The Famous: Watching the Watched
  • "Did dance aerobics for 45 minutes then all of the butt lifts and the like." - Steve Granitz/WireImageIf one was to pinpoint a particular moment in time when the tide turned in regard to Gwyneth Paltrow, when the general consensus changed from "Gwyneth as generally beloved 'America's Sweetheart' Oscar Winner" to "Gwyneth as out-of-touch, pretentious wannabe-British actress," it would probably be when she started her GOOP newsletter. Though written in a warm and altruistic tone, they can often come off as patronizing or just strange ("Here are the best wine bars in Barcelona!" "Here are some ridiculously expensive draperies for the ceiling in your garage!" etc.) and are painfully easy targets for ridicule.

Well, today she has graced us with an account of "A Day in The Life" of Gwyneth Paltrow, and it's pretty amazing. The description is an attempt to give GOOP readers advice on how to find "a good balance between having a career and being a mom" (she also asked friends Stella McCartney and venture capitalist Juliet de Baubigny -- just your everyday "working moms"! -- to recount typical

  • The merry trio. - Denise Truscello/WireImageIt's Katy Perry's grandmother. (If the bejeweled cane clue had you thinking it must be Lady Gaga's, that's understandable, though.)

Ann Russell celebrated her 90th birthday on Wednesday in Las Vegas with a group including granddaughter Katy and "grandson-in-law" Russell Brand. The group dined at Strip House restaurant at Planet Hollywood.

Katy tweeted Wednesday, "Happy 90th birthday grandma HUDSON! You're the reason why!" Normally we would make some joke about how there is no way a 90-year-old grandmother is checking Twitter, but, in this case, it seems more than possible.

  • Back in 2008, Taylor Swift made headlines worldwide (well, maybe not worldwide, but it was a very big deal in certain circles) when she revealed that she had been dumped by then-boyfriend Joe Jonas in a 27-second phone call.

"[The split] was, like, a record, I think, for how quick," Swift told Ellen DeGeneres at the time, with an apparent sense of humor about the whole thing. "I looked at the call log - it was like 27 seconds. That's got to be a record."

But she still had to get past the residual frustration about the breakup creatively, addressing their brief romance in the song "Forever and Always" on her album "Fearless" and seemingly putting Jonas permanently in her past.

"You know what, it's like, when I find that person that is right for me, he'll be wonderful," she told Ellen. "When I look at that person, I'm not even going to remember the boy who broke up with me over the phone in 27 seconds when I was 18."

Unfortunately for Swift, just when it seemed like she may have found

  • Kanye's vision is priceless. - The Life Files/TiretRecognize anyone on this timepiece? That is the defiant visage of Kanye "I'm the voice of my generation" West, formed from yellow and black diamonds. The self-loving, self-loathing rapper commissioned the watch from Tiret for a whopping $180,000, according to The Life Files. It allegedly took five months to create -- and, no joke, it's kind of awesome in an over-the-top, Crazy Kanye-designed-this sort of way. Nobody else would put their face on a watch -- how annoying and egomaniacal! -- but he somehow gets away with it.

  • It's over. - Jon Furniss/WireImageKeira Knightley is back on the market after splitting with actor-boyfriend Rupert Friend after five years together.

"Yes, they have broken up," the actress' father Will Knightley tells the British newspaper The Sun. "But that's the way things go, unfortunately. The only option is to get on with things."

Knightley and Friend met on the set of 2005's "Pride and Prejudice." (She was Elizabeth Bennett, and he played Mr. Wickham). Knightley -- whose credits include the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies and "Love, Actually" -- was the bigger celebrity in the relationship, and Friend was reportedly uncomfortable being part of the tabloid limelight.

Rumblings of a split began over the holiday season when Friend brought his mother as his date to a peformance of The Nutcracker. And now, as suspected, it's over: Knightley is Friend-less and Friend is Knight-less.

  • The old adage "Money doesn't buy happiness" rings true for Oprah Winfrey: The media mogul was once so depressed, she consumed 30 POUNDS of macaroni and cheese. The trigger: The box-office failure of her 1998 movie/passion project "Beloved."

"I'm not in the movie business," she tells CNN. "I did this movie because I was passionate about it. I didn't know that you had that weekend and that is it. So I am thinking that if people don't go this weekend, that people will go see it next weekend."

They didn't. Instead, Oprah's massive influence was undermined by a movie about a terrifying children's toy.

"It premiered on a Friday, and I remember hearing on Saturday morning that we got beat by something called 'Chucky,'" she recalls. "I didn't even know what 'Chucky' was. I asked my chef at the time, Art Smith, to make some macaroni and cheese."

She adds: "I ate about 30 pounds worth. I'm not kidding! It's the only time in my life I was ever depressed. I recognized I was depressed because

  • Royal Wedding Tea Towels Could Soon Be Yours

Only about three months to go! - Chris Jackson/Getty ImagesAfter last month's release of official commemorative china to celebrate the upcoming Royal Wedding between overnight fashion icon Kate Middleton and some prince dude, there will soon be another item for Royal Wedding memorabilia completists to snap up: tea towels.

The Royal Collection has announced that they will produce the tea towels (the British equivalent of dish towels) in time for them to go on sale before the April 29 wedding. Sadly, the towels will not feature an image of Prince William and Kate Middleton flashing their pearly whites; instead, they will showcase the "entwined initials" of the pair.

The commemorative china, which went on sale right before Christmas, is selling -- wait for it -- 30 times better than had initially been expected. Though no figures have been released, sales are said to be in the "tens of thousands of units," with 90 percent of sales coming online and, notably, 60 percent from overseas.

  • Vanity FairIn today's ha-ha celebrity hoax factory: Vanity Fair "leaked" a Justin Bieber-ized cover of The New Yorker.

(Bieber currently graces the February issue of VF, which couldn't resist capitalizing on the superstar singer's wild Internet fame with a fake mockup of another magazine cover.)

Meanwhile, the Bieberverse is preparing for the release of his upcoming 3-D docu-concert film "Never Say Never." Here's a sneak peak. It includes a quote from Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun: "If it wasn't for the kids out there, camping out and doing what they do, we don't have jobs."

How true -- especially In This Economy. Hmmmm. Given his massive appeal, could Justin Bieber actually help reduce the national unemployment rate by growing his entourage? Every pop star needs more than one swagger coach, right?

  • Rethinking Botox. - Alexandra Wyman/WireImageGrass is green, the world is round and Nicole Kidman used Botox. We know: shocking! After years of suspicious denials and vanishing wrinkles, Kidman has admitted the obvious -- and says she no longer injects her face with the anti-aging potion of the stars.

"I've tried a lot of things but apart from working out and a good diet most things don't help," she allegedly says in an interview with German magazine TV Movie (via the Us Weekly). "I even tried Botox but I didn't like how my face looked afterwards. Now I don't use it anymore -- and I can move my forehead again."

Hooray for Kidman; she is strikingly beautiful on her own, and she's also a very good actress. If Kidman is indeed Botox-free, we look forward to seeing some expression on her face again. But based on this photo, taken at a Dec. 7 screening of Kidman's new drama "Rabbit Hole," it appears she might slowly be weaning herself off the stuff. Or maybe her forehead is stuck like that.
