The Famous: Watching the Watched
  • Good news for Mimi. - Getty ImagesIn a kind of strange story, child services representatives stopped by the manse of Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon yesterday to investigate an anonymous tip they had received that Carey drank a Guinness beer while she was breastfeeding in the hospital.

According to TMZ, a hospital staffer told Carey that consuming a dark beer would aid her lactation. Carey apparently followed this advice and was upfront about it, "never hiding the fact" that she downed the Guiness.

The L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services officials concluded there was no merit to the claim, stating Monroe and Moroccan were in a safe and healthy environment.

Meanwhile, we are kind of confused about this "anonymous tip" aspect of the story. Like, if we called child services and made up this whole thing that, let's say, we heard Jessica Alba was driving around Los Angeles with her daughter sitting on her lap in the driver's seat, would they just show up at her house and check it out? Seems weird. Anyway!

  • Matthew Vaughn. - Fred Duval/FilmMagic"X-Men: First Class" director Matthew Vaughn wants to set the record straight: he's NOT the father of January Jones' unborn child.

As gossip spreads that Vaughn is the baby daddy, he's squashed the rumors through his lawyers, describing an earlier E! News Report as an "absolute lie." The E! story, which detailed the alleged on-set sketchiness between Vaughn and Jones (who plays Emma Frost in "X-Men"), was abruptly pulled down after Vaughn's lawyers phoned the outlet. Luckily, Celebitchy saved the story.

Jones' refusal to acknowledge the father's identity has coincided with several blind items that have surfaced, suggesting he is a married man she met while filming "X-Men." Conspiracy theorists (including yours truly) singled out Vaughn, whose wife is supermodel Claudia Schiffer, with whom he has three kids.

It's possible that Jones became pregnant on her own through using a sperm donor -- or immaculate conception! -- but her silence speaks volumes.

  • Distant relative of Prince Harry? Christina Hendricks? Carrot top? - Jean Baptiste Lacroix/FilmMagicBryce Dallas Howard is expanding her family. She's pregnant with her second child, and the father is "X-Men" director Matthew Vaughn! Ba-dum-dum, JOKING. (We're here all night, folks.) The father is the actress' husband, Seth Gobel, with whom she already has a 4-year-old son, named Theo. Howard, 30, struggled with postpartum depression following his birth, writing honestly about it in a recent Goop newsletter. The ginger-haired star kicked off "is she pregnant?" chatter earlier this month at the Cannes Film Festival when she wore a shapeless Reem Acra gown that appeared to conceal The Bump.

  • The Kardash-ling. - Craig Barritt/WireImageSound the alarms, 15-year-old Kendall Jenner is on birth control! That's a dramatic plot twist from the upcoming season of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," wherein Bruce Jenner freaks out when he discovers his daughter's pills.

"No comment, no comment," Kris Jenner teases to E! News about the situation, keeping fans in suspense (as a true reality-show mom would). "You'll have to wait and see."

To this, Khloe Kardashian -- this family loves to get interviewed, especially together -- weighs in to set the record straight (and keep her little sister's reputation intact). "But I don't want it to be bad," she says. "Because it's not that reason why she's on birth control."

Perhaps, as E! suggests, the teen model is taking the pills for acne or menstrual cramps. Either way, kids grow up -- and fast, in Hollywood.

  • There it is. - bauergriffinonline.comNot only does it weigh as much as a newborn kitten or a McDonald's quarter pounder (seriously), but the 16.5 carat diamond Kris Humphries gave Kim Kardashian contains two hidden messages underneath the gem.

TMZ says Humphries had two bible passages written into the ring, both of which have a "special meaning" for the couple and which will remain a secret (at least until Kim wants to sell another exclusive to a tabloid).

Meanwhile, it's probably only a matter of days before Kim's ring gets its own zip code and publicist.

  • The rock. - bauergriffinonline.comJust like all your friends do after they tell you they're engaged, Kim Kardashian jetted to Monaco a day after the world learned she is now 20.5 carats heavier, thanks to the massive rock given to her by now-fiance Kris Humphries.

Kardashian, who was officially engaged on May 18, flew to Monaco today with Humphries for a pre-planned vacation with Humphries' family.

Oddly, Humphries' family also adheres to the "There's No 'C' That Doesn't Work Better as a 'K'" rule, as Kris' sisters are named Kaela (she's a model) and Krystal.

"I wanted to propose before the trip so we could really spend some quality time together with my family as a couple," Humphries told People. "I planned it out this way."

Kardashian added, in one of the more dull celebrity quotes we've seen in a while, "We're celebrating ... on a family vacation with them."

We imagine the Monaco trip will air on the Kardashians' reality show this summer (the engagement reportedly was filmed for the show) -- so you just know

  • Justin Bieber Reveals Hebrew Tattoo on Ribcage

Bieber and Gomez in Hawaii, with a close-up of the tat. - Splash NewsPerhaps having adjusted to the idea of Justin Bieber dating Selena Gomez, Bieber obsessives have found something new to fixate on while Bieber vacations in Hawaii with Gomez.

Some paparazzi shots of a shirtless Bieber have revealed that the 17-year-old pop star is sporting what appear to be two tattoos: one on his waist -- a tiny bird's head -- and one on his ribcage -- the word "Yeshua," or Jesus, written in Hebrew, according to The Daily.

While we don't know the intentions behind Bieber's tattoo, he did visit Israel in April, where he ranted on Twitter about how the paparazzi wouldn't give him the time or space to properly engage with the holy sites.

He has also led a backstage Hebrew prayer before a concert recently, as seen in this video.

Though Bieber is not yet 18, in several U.S. states minors can receive tattoos as long as they have parental consent. Let's hope, though, that Bieber pal Willow Smith doesn't get any ideas.

  • Betty draped her bump. - Gary Gershoff/WireImageWhat is it about January Jones that fascinates us so? Here she is at last night's "X-Men: First Class" premiere in New York, showing off her baby belly, all glowy and happy and blonde.

"I feel great," she gushed on the red carpet. "I haven't had any weird physical side effects. I feel pretty lucky so far."

When asked if she had any odd pregnancy cravings, she said, "Everybody is asking me that. I haven't yet. It's a bummer. I wish I had something weird to tell."

Thing is, she does have a weird story to tell: namely, the identity of her BABY DADDY. The mystery man whose name she is withholding from the media. The mystery man who's allegedly married, and whom she hooked up with on the set of "X-Men."

Conspiracy theorists present a convincing candidate in "X-Men" director Matthew Vaughn, based on a blind item purporting the father to be a married, foreign-born man with kids of his own and a wife who was once associated with a really creepy guy; as it happens, Vaughn's wife is Claudia

  • RyRy. - Matthias Vriens-McGrath/DetailsRyan Reynolds does not mention Scarlett Johansson by name in his new Details profile, but he will take the bait to discuss: the dreaded D-word, and the psychological effects thereof.

"Anyone who gets divorced goes through a lot of pain, but you come out of it," the Canadian ambassador of hotness the actor tells the magazine. "I'm not out of it yet. At all. But I sense that as I do come through it, there's optimism. How can there not be? I don't think I want to get married again, but you always reevaluate these things. Any kind of crisis can be good. It wakes you up. I gotta say, I'm a different person than I was six months ago."

That's around the time Reynolds, known affectionately as RyRy to The Famous, got his heart stomped on by ScarJo, his wife of two years. They filed for divorce just before Christmas, and the bombshell actress has since moved on with Sean Penn.

"What was happening privately was the exact opposite of what was being reported," says the "Green Lantern" star.

  • "He literally never saw her." - Jeff Vespa/WireImageAndrew Garfield, who will star in the upcoming "The Amazing Spider-Man," is now single.

The "Social Network" star (yeah, UsMagazine.com, and everyone else, made the requisite "changed his relationship status" joke) and Shannon Woodward had been dating since 2008. Woodward is best known for her role on Fox's "Raising Hope."

Us' insider claims that Garfield and Woodward grew apart as he "got deeper into filming 'The Amazing Spider-Man'; he literally never saw her."

Additionally, the source says they're "telling people they're on a break... [but] they haven't spoken to each other in weeks."

Call us cynical, but don't be surprised if Garfield and "Spider-Man" co-star Emma Stone conveniently start dating about three months before the fim's release next summer.
