Gasp! Two Oscar-winning actresses, "Walk the Line's" Reese Witherspoon and "The Aviator's" Cate Blanchett, were snapped wearing the same sleeveless Louis Vuitton dress with sequins and ruffles just three days apart. While it seems like neither of them would really care -- Reese seems too down-to-earth and Cate too intellectual -- we just couldn't resist the opportunity to play one of our favorite fashion games by asking, "Who wore it best?"
Reese, 35, chose the design in green and black for the premiere of her latest comedy, "This Means War," in London on January 31. The "Election" actress accessorized with a black belt, black pumps, and a black clutch. She also let down her hair, which included freshly cut bangs.
Cate, 42, donned the look in gray, gold, and white at a soiree for the Maison Louis Vuitton Roma Etoile (translation: LV store) in Rome on January 27. The "Elizabeth" star also sported Louis Vuitton peep-toe heels, a gold Sofia Coppola for Louis Vuitton handbag, and left her almost-shoulder-length locks loose.
This sparkling gown was a gorgeous choice for both ladies, but only one appeared comfortable in it -- Reese. The rom-com queen nailed the look by belting the design, which allowed her to simultaneously flatter her figure and show off her gams. The dress had potential for Cate, but somewhere along the line it all went wrong -- probably when she chose not to cinch it at the waist. Sure, she has a fabulous physique, but no one would know it by looking at the way the dress seemed to swallow her up. Based solely on fit, Reese is the winner hands-down for me. Do you agree?
