Ashley Greene’s Secret for Looking Fab in a Photo

Ashley Greene pops a pose at Soho House in L.A. Donato Sardella/WireImageAnyone who's ever seen Ashley Greene in one of the "Twilight" films or on the cover of a magazine knows that the camera loves her. While celebrating her latest photo shoot for Lucky magazine's March issue at the exclusive Soho House in L.A., the pretty actress revealed her that trick for taking a great photograph has more to do with what she's feeling than the way she looks.

"I think [it's] just being comfortable and confident in your skin, and that just shines through. People know when you're really thinking about something that makes you happy versus when you're just pasting on a smile," the 24-year-old explained. "If you're taking a photo with your friends, I think it's all about being in the moment."

The star of the upcoming comedy "Butter," with Jennifer Garner and Olivia Wilde, admits that it doesn't hurt that she works with a lighting team, hair and makeup artists, and, of course, fashion stylists before she strikes a pose. But when the face of DKNY is responsible for her own look, Ashley said there are several current trends she's likely to don. She named jewel tones and bright lipstick to add a pop of color to any ensemble as two of her favorites. The Florida native is also a fan of wedges. "Part of it is I like outfits that can transform from day to night, and I think wedges can go from day to night, depending on what you're wearing," Ashley noted. "The floral prints I like a lot, too, which I think goes hand in hand with the jewel tones."

Whatever she's wearing, Ashley has become one to watch on the red carpet. Her career is flourishing, too, and, in addition to "Butter," her schedule includes "LOL," an upcoming comedy with Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore, and, of course, the final "Twilight" flick, "Breaking Dawn -- Part 2," which has already been shot and comes out November 16. She has mixed feelings about leaving the role of Alice Cullen behind. "I'm gonna miss Alice. She was such a fun, fun character to play, and she's become such a big part of my life -- you know, I've played her for four years -- and she's just kind of happy and perky, and it's a nice kind of role model for me, just to see how positive she is and how loyal she is," Ashley gushed. "I think saying bye [to the rest of the cast] is a little difficult. But most of us live in Hollywood, and we'll run into each other, and we also have each other's numbers, so all in all, I'm pretty positive about moving forward with the careers that 'Twilight' has given us this springboard to."

The secret to looking good in photos is to be very thin, no bumps, rolls, double chin etc!

Sorry to disappoint the critics, but she is a natural beauty. Didn't have a nose job! She had the same nose as a child.

She is so pretty! And I don't think she is too thin. I do like her in the pixie hairstyle.

Oh, please....can we get away from "it's just about feeling comfortable and confident"? You're pretty, you starve yourself (thin people always look better in photos), and you have the best makeup artists, stylists and photographers in the biz. Any questions?

Yeah, you keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better about yourself.

I think she is beautiful. If her nose is real it makes sense, very pointed features. Otherwise, nice nose job for her face.

I love Ashley! I think the secret is in the hair. I know whenever I wear my lea Journo hair mask, my hair comes out so rich and healthy looking! Not to mention fabulous!

When I was about 13, I asked my parents if I could get a haircut. They said sure. We went, then asked me what type of haircut. I automatically said "I want a haircut like Ashley Greens!!!" ;P

It's weird, but I'm not very photogenic. I can take interesting pictures sometimes, but I've always kind of hated taking pictures from like 12 yrs old and onward. I was a gorgeous toddler. I have a lot of great baby pics. Then I went through my awkward phase around 11 years old and yup almost 33 and still in my awkward phase. Like a 22 yr awkward phase. Yay. I used to avoid pictures like the plague whenever possible. I got really good at hiding behind other people in pictures. Then a few years ago, in an attempt to make peace with my self-image, I began taking self-portraits of myself here and there. I tweak them into looking more fantastical and make believe because that's kind of how I envision myself in my own head, like a cartoon. It's helped me to let people take pictures of me and not cringe or want them destroyed. Sometimes I take a really good picture and just stare at myself trying to connect that any beauty I see in it is actually me and actually belongs to me every day. It's hard to connect that feeling of beauty with my self because I've always been or felt ugly. But I'm better at it than I used to be.

Woman that are born with genetic gifts of such magnitude that they end up as models or actresses always seem to love to the tell the rest of us "normals," the way to look as beautiful as them,is to just be beautiful on the inside, and let that "inner beauty" shine! I am not sure if they are just in denial, or it makes them feel better to believe there is more to them earning a fortune than their natural " genetic blessings". Let's get real, just admit it , we will admire you alot more it if you just admit you won "the look's megalotto"! It's really okay, there is not one among us that wouldn't love to have won it also!

      Her nose is hideous.
    • Disgruntled  •  3 months ago
Her nose has that very fake, "I've had a nose job" look about it so I have to take her comment of "being comfortable in your skin" with a grain of salt.
