Drew Barrymore goes back to blond

As Drew Barrymore demonstrated this week, apparently it only takes five hours to go back 20 years.

The 38-year-old actress went for a five-hour marathon appointment at her salon on, and when she emerged, she looked much like she did in her early 20s. Barrymore traded in her chocolate locks for a lighter, brighter shade of blond for reasons unknown.

It could be for an upcoming project, like 2014’s romcom “Blended” which reunites Barrymore with her team from 1998’s comedy “The Wedding Singer” (Adam Sandler and director Frank Coraci). Or it could be because the new mom wanted a change in her personal style.

Or maybe she just had one of those “moods.” Barrymore recently caused waves among her female fans when she remarked to TV host Eric Ripert that she believes women are naturally more emotional than men.

“I think I’m moody because I’m a woman and I think you can ask any man in this room that women are like inherently moody and hormonal people. I don’t know how men deal with it, I praise them,” she said.

Barrymore and her husband Will Kopelman had their first daughter Olive in September 2012, which can definitely be an emotional time for both parents. And while they adjust to their new lifestyle, Barrymore has also said that she’s okay with taking a step back from her career to focus on her new family.

“Unfortunately, I was raised in this like generation of like, 'Women can have it all,' and I don’t think you can. I think some things fall off the table. The good news is, what does stay on the table becomes much more important," she recently told Us Weekly.

Motherhood has not only affected Barrymore's career, but her body as well. She also told In Touch Magazine that she grew a red goatee while pregnant with Olive, and is in no hurry to lose her baby weight.

Maybe the new hair colour is a tribute to the pre-mom Drew? In any case, we’re excited to see how she’ll make it work.

What do you think of Drew’s new look?
