    Stars Go Retro Chic

Maybe it's the popularity of AMC drama "Mad Men," or perhaps it's our obsession with throwback songs like Adele's "Rolling in the Deep," but whatever it is, fashion right now seems to be very reminiscent of the '50s and '60s. Swingy skirts, classically-shaped dresses, details such as cap-sleeves and peplums, and Old Hollywood hair and makeup are turning up everywhere, from fashion magazines to chain stores like Banana Republic, which recently teamed with "Mad Men" costume designer Janie Bryant for a second collection of show-inspired clothing. Celebrities such as Emma Stone, Taylor Swift, and Zoe Saldana have also embraced the look, making it a true style trend.

Of course, like any trend, it can often be worn wrong. According to Glamour magazine, you can go retro the right way by rocking just one piece at a time, like a high ponytail, a high-waisted garment with a wide belt, or a long skirt with a tutu underneath for volume.

Kate Winslet took this advice to heart when she swept her hair back and donned minimal makeup to go along with her black Stella McCartney dress featuring a nostalgic polka dot pattern. However, Lily Collins threw that rule out the window — but still managed to stun — in a strapless, tulle Dolce & Gabbana dress, a poufy half-up, half-down 'do, and the era's bright pink lipstick.
