What’s the secret to a 35-year marriage? Find out on the latest episode of “Sunday Dinner With,” when we pay a visit to TV icon Suzanne Somers and her husband Alan at their Palm Springs, California, hideaway … and tag along on the happy couple’s date night!
“A couple of times a week, I’ll say to Al, ‘Wanna go on a date tonight?’ That is code for let’s meet in the bar and we’ll have a Patron silver on the rocks, no lime,” shares Somers. “We listen to cool music, sometimes we dance. We get around to dinner.”
On this particular date night, Somers – who also has a line of health and beauty products – cooks up a variety of delicious and healthy dishes including a gourmet cauliflower soup, organic chicken picatta, and even a gluten-free panna cotta. And then, of course, there’s the good wine … and conversation.

Suzanne Somers' Cauliflower Soup
In a heavy bottom, medium-size soup pot, saute three thinly sliced shallots in olive oil, until soft and translucent. Add one whole cauliflower, cut into small pieces. Add one tablespoon of butter and saute until tender, about seven minutes. Season with sea salt and pepper. Add four cups of chicken broth (homemade, if possible) and bring to a boil, then simmer for 25 minutes. Blend with a hand mixer or transfer to a food processor and purée in batches. Serve in soup bowls, then garnish with sea salt, a dollop of creme fraiche, crispy fried shallots, and a drizzle of truffle oil (if you have it).
