Report: Taylor Swift and Conor Kennedy call it quits

Get ready to hear lots of jokes about how Taylor Swift is singing her hit "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" to Conor Kennedy. The couple has called it quits after just a few months of dating, according to Us Weekly. Swift's grueling schedule as she released her new album, Red, this week was apparently the reason. "They quietly parted ways a while ago," an unnamed close friend of the singer-songwriter tells the magazine. "It was just a distance thing. No hard feelings. They're fine." The source adds that "it's been over a month since they've even seen other. With her promotion for Red, she has no time off until the end of the year."

Part of the reason Kennedy couldn't just take off and travel with his 22-year-old girlfriend is that he's in school. Kennedy, 18, is a student at Deerfield Academy, a prestigious Massachusetts boarding school. Perhaps the age issue also was part of the problem?

Swift and Kennedy's romance was closely watched. They made headlines when she bought a home in across the street near the Kennedy family compound and across the street from Conor's grandmother Ethel in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, last August. That same month, one of Conor's relatives accused the singer of crashing a Kennedy family wedding at a Boston hotel.

Of course, we'll hear more about the latest developments in Swift's romances on future albums. She's already famously penned songs about exes like Jake Gyllenhaal, Joe Jonas, and John Mayer. "I don't really talk about my love life," she noted on "Good Morning America" Tuesday. "I kind of sing about it a lot because I think that it sounds more poetic and romantic about it with music behind it."
