Four months after saying “I do” in picturesque Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, the newlyweds are finally sharing a small glimpse of their secret wedding. And we mean small. Because the couple remains “protective of images of them on their most heartfelt occasion,” according to Martha Stewart Weddings, which features the nuptials in its Winter 2013 issue, the gorgeous photos aren’t of them – they’re of the décor! But we do get to see a hint of the beautiful couple as bride and groom – and we’ve learned a few new tidbits about their hush-hush affair.

While we don’t get to see the smiles on their faces or look of love in their eyes, this shot – taken from the waist down – offers a peek at the “Gossip Girl” alum’s stunning custom Marchesa gown. Its fabric is light and airy – described by the magazine as “cloudlike” – with rose-gold embroidered detail and crystal beading at the shoulders. The Martha Stewart Weddings team – who helped Lively, 25, and Reynolds, 36, plan the wedding – reports that the 25-year-old actress asked Marchesa’s Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig “to dip-dye select layers pale pink to complement her engagement ring.” Meanwhile, Reynolds, who we know wore custom leather suspenders on his big day, is seen standing in his tan Burberry suit. The couple’s hands are intertwined and his Lorraine Schwartz wedding band shimmers in the light.
So what else do we learn from the 10-page article? For one, the couple got engaged in June – who knew?! – and immediately reached out to Lively’s “idol” Martha Stewart for her expertise. While searching for a venue that felt like “home, ” the couple “crisscrossed the States” and ultimately fell in love with the Charleston area. Their event, which took place just outside the city at Boone Plantation and Gardens, was held in a rustic barn-like dock house. And keeping with that homey theme, they had their own antique china brought from New York.

Both the bride and groom wore custom Louboutin shoes for the ceremony, which was described as “not only deeply loving but humorous, too,” reports the magazine. At the reception, which featured the couple’s initials on just about everything with a heart in between, Florence Welch performed several songs, including “Cosmic Love” – but that wasn’t the only entertainment. They had a professional whistler on hand for when they cut the cake, and Lively’s sister, Robyn, who appeared in the film “Teen Witch,” and their brother Eric “left the newlyweds in stitches by reenacting the movie’s final dance sequence – in full costume,” details the magazine.
While Lively and Reynolds themselves don’t appear on the cover of Martha Stewart Weddings, her bouquet does. It was made of pink jasmine, andromeda, dusty miller, and blushing bride hydrangea. Some of the petals were dipped in rose-gold glitter to accent the embroidery of the same color on her dress. Another special detail was that a gold timepiece, a Lively family heirloom, was worked into the ribbon of the bouquet.

The other photos the couple shared will make you very, very hungry. Lively is known for her sweet tooth – many of the couple’s early dates took place at Serendipity 3 in New York City – so there were plenty to go around. The wedding cake, created by Maggie Austin Cake, was driven all the way from Alexandria, Virginia. It was the centerpiece of the dessert table and was vanilla-and-sour-cream flavored with peach-apricot preserves and Earl Grey-milk chocolate buttercream. They also had blueberry cheesecake tarts, s’mores bars, mini strawberry shortcakes, ice pops, and caramel popcorn.
At the end of the night, guests who weren’t in sugar comas gathered with the couple to launch wish lanterns into the sky.
Sounds like it was truly a dream day.
