On Thursday night’s “Late Show With Jimmy Fallon,” she made the big announcement that she is engaged to her ex-husband, Gregg Leakes. After the host ribbed her about all the romantic photos she had posted on Twitter on New Year’s Eve – including a trail of red rose petals leading to a bedroom! – NeNe giggled and admitted, “Well, a little after midnight, I was asked this beautiful question: 'Will you marry me – again?'"
Although the “New Normal” actress, 44, was not wearing a ring during the interview, naturally she said, “Yes!”
And her closest co-star is just as happy for them. “Now I can officially congratulate my girl @NeNeLeakes & Greg on their engagement,” tweeted Cynthia Bailey, who renewed her own vows this season, with NeNe and Gregg, 58, in attendance. “Love u guys.”
Fans of the Bravo series have watched the couple grow closer this past season after their painful split in 2011. Although NeNe was shown on dates with another suitor who lavished her with a Rolex on one occasion, her heart always seemed to be with her ex-husband as she agonized over signing the divorce papers. But this current season it’s been all about Gregg, who clearly was working hard to win his ex-wife back … and it looks like his persistence paid off!
NeNe and Gregg, who first met in 1996 when she was an exotic dancer in Georgia, have a 13-year-old son Brentt. NeNe also has a son Bryson, 22, from a previous relationship.
