But is that because they became engaged on the most romantic day of the year, or did they just really enjoy dinner at Vincenti Ristorante in L.A.?
As they left the well-reviewed Italian eatery on Thursday, the 28-year-old Perry sported a noticeable ruby ring on — you guessed it! — her wedding ring finger.
Several gossip websites immediately speculated that Perry had finally tamed the womanizer, and that he'd popped the question. Reps for Perry and Mayer have not responded to omg!’s requests for comment.
It's true that the lovebirds have been spending a lot of time together, but we have to realize that this is Perry we're talking about. The "Part of Me" singer has been known to mix up her jewelry, including her rings. In fact, she's been spotted wearing several different rings on her ring finger since she stopped sporting the one she wore during her marriage to Russell Brand. Perry donned a sparkler with champagne, cognac, and yellow diamonds estimated to cost $75,000 after they got hitched in October 2010 up until their split in December 2011.
Still, both Perry and Mayer — who's never been married — have revealed that they're open to walking down the aisle.
In August, right about the time rumors began swirling about her and Mayer, Perry was asked by Elle magazine whether she would be a bride again. "Never say never," she said. "I guess you'd say. I'll let love take the lead on that."
Mayer, who's famously dated Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Simpson, Minka Kelly, and more, was asked by "CBS Sunday Morning" just last week about whether he sees marriage in his future. "Of course," he answered. "I mean, I'm still the kid from Connecticut. That's what you do."
