Preston Bailey (Getty Images)After planning lavish parties and weddings for the likes of Oprah Winfrey and Donald Trump, Preston Bailey finally orchestrated his biggest fete yet: his own wedding.
The 63-year-old celebrity planner tied the knot with his partner of seven years, Grammy-nominated singer Theo Bleckmann, shortly after midnight on Valentine’s Day with a “King Kong” themed bash on top of the Empire State Building. “Fashion Police” host Joan Rivers, who got ordained for the occasion, officiated.
The 79-year-old talk show queen was thrilled to be a part of the festivities and tweeted about her important role. “So excited to legally marry my good friends Preston Bailey and Theo Bleckmann in NYC tonight! Here we are rehearsing!”
Bailey was equally excited about his big day. “I cannot believe I am getting married tonight! As most of you can imagine, I am running around in a flurry of excitement as I count down the hours to one of the most special moments of my life, the moment when my amazing partner and I share our love and commitment with our closest family and friends,” he posted to his blog.

Also on hand for the soiree was newly engaged “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star, Nene Leakes (Bailey is planning her wedding), Martha Stewart, and pals from Europe, Indonesia, and South America. Noticeably absent from the ceremony was Oprah, whose Midas touch helped shoot the planner to fame after he planned her 50th birthday bash and parties for O, The Oprah Magazine.
Upon arriving to the iconic locale, which also served as the backdrop of the classic scene from “King Kong” where true love conquers all, guests were greeted with a Kong-like statue draped in flowers and a long hallway decorated with blooms and personal photos of weddings Bailey has planned. Later, guests nibbled on wedding cake from famed New York City baker Sylvia Weinstock and were sent home with party favors provided by Martha Stewart.
Bailey pulled out all the stops to say “I Do” and clearly got his fairytale ending. Plus, the newlyweds will now join a select group of lovers who’ve gotten married atop the NYC skyscraper on the romantic holiday.
Now that must truly make them feel like they’re on top of the world.
