Mark Seliger/Rolling Stone Lately, every time John Mayer opens his mouth I cringe, and his interview in the new issue of Rolling Stone is no exception. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for being honest and speaking your mind, but sometimes it seems as if the "Waiting On The World To Change" singer is trying a little too hard to be cool, or simply shares TMI. Either way, I guess it makes for an interesting read. more »

Katy Perry pops a pose on the cover of Glamour's February issue.
Matthias Vriens-McGrath/Glamour
As you've probably heard by now, Katy Perry, 25, is engaged to British comedian Russell Brand, 34, after just three months of dating. According to the pop star's rep, Brand popped the question to his lady love on New Year's Eve in a tent at the foot of a mountain in India. (Who knew the raunchy comic was so romantic?) Most of us might think a whirlwind romance like that wouldn't last, but their pairing just might be crazy enough to work.
Although the "Waking Up in Vegas" singer has found "the one," prior to the proposal she opened up to Glamour magazine about love, men, and more for their special "Man Issue." Apparently, when searching for her soulmate, Katy was "excited to find a partner who can just be my teammate. And there's got to be respect. For me, that's hard because it's easy for me to steamroll guys. I need a man who tells me the party's over, that it's time to go home, because [we] have to work in the morning." Read more »

Sir Elton John and his partner, filmmaker David Furnish, pose in front of a Damien Hirst creation, which sets the tone for their 1970s-inspired Los Angeles home. Deborah Anderson/Vistalux It's no surprise that Sir Elton John -- who's sold more than 200 million records over his 40-year career -- owns several homes, including residences in Atlanta, France, Italy, and England. Most recently, the British pop star and his partner, filmmaker David Furnish, decided they needed a place in sunny Los Angeles as well. The couple invited Architectural Digest into their 3,000 square foot "chrome-and-glass palace," which Furnish dreamed up with the help of his designer friend Martyn Lawrence Bullard. Since John rose to fame in the 1970s with hits such as "Rocket Man" and "Crocodile Rock," isn't it appropriate that their abode is '70s inspired? Read more »

Is Lady Gaga the new Queen of Pop?

With album sales plummeting, piracy at an all-time high, and a lack of seasoned superstars to choose from, it's easy to see why the music industry is continuing to die a slow, painful death.
But, look on the bright side; despite these tragic factors, 2009 was miraculously able to deliver its fair share of poptastic hits. I, for one, am still tapping my toes, playing with my iPod, and singing in the shower on a daily basis. Aren't you?
Anyway, those of you expecting to see Taylor Swift on the list are out of luck. Despite the fact that the country cutie dominated the year, I find her music painfully boring ... especially compared to these exciting acts. But, while I may have left off a few of your faves, I promise that the following songs are more than worthy of a listen. In fact, I challenge you to not fall in love with the majority of them.
