Although the two have been dating for about five months, the statuesque blonde had gone largely unnoticed until she tweeted a photo of herself and the decorated swimmer celebrating his win with all of his gold medals at House of St. Barnabas on Sunday. Last night, they made their official debut on the red carpet at a Speedo event in London. While Rossee, a Hollywood cocktail waitress, certainly looked good on Phelps' arm, those who know her are warning that in the end she'll probably just break his heart.

"She's desperate for her own fame — her career has been a slow-burner but this will certainly accelerate it," one source tells Radar Online of Rossee, 25, who reportedly has walked in fashion shows for Michael Kors and Betsey Johnson, and was recently in a music video for hip-hop producer-singer The-Dream. "Michael is like a puppy dog around Megan — he's completely in love with her. However, like any young girl hoping to make it in Hollywood, she's ambitious and knows that by associating herself with Michael she will get a lot of press herself."

Phelps, 27, isn't the first celebrity Rossee has tried to hitch her wagon to. According to her MySpace page — which she keeps current, despite the fact that most people have moved on to Facebook since MySpace's heyday — she also tried to get close with "Scrubs" actor Zach Braff nearly five years ago. "oh yea…. and I wrote zach braff an email," Rossee wrote to her sister Melissa on the antiquated social network. "He didn't respond. :(!!!! my dreams are ruined." A source also tells Radar Online that she was propositioned by the ex-boyfriend of Paris Hilton and Lauren Conrad, former baseball player Doug Reinhardt, around the same time as Phelps. Naturally, she opted to go for the more successful athlete. A wise choice indeed.

Now that she's the girlfriend of the most-decorated Olympian in history, Rossee's getting lots of attention — thanks in part to self promotion. Rossee, who toured the world as a model at VIP events before meeting Phelps at Blok nightclub where she works, often tweets about her famous main squeeze and has posted quite a few photos of him in recent weeks, including the two of them celebrating his gold medals in London over the weekend.
