Lindsay Lohan hospitalized after running her Porsche into 18-wheeler on California highway

Lindsay Lohan had quite a scare on Friday when she landed herself in the hospital after ramming her Porsche into an 18-wheel truck while traveling on California's Pacific Coast Highway. According to TMZ (which has photos of the crash), the actress rear-ended the big rig around noon, totaling her pricey rental car and leaving both herself and her personal assistant bloodied and battered. An ambulance was called to the scene, but the 25-year-old refused to be transported to Santa Monica UCLA's emergency room (she found another mode of transportation), although her assistant, who was in the passenger seat, did accept a ride from the paramedics. After a few hours in the hospital, Lohan was given a clean bill of health and released -- and she immediately headed to the set of her Elizabeth Taylor made-for-TV Lifetime movie, "Liz & Dick." In a statement, Lohan's rep said, "She is fine and was released less than two hours later ... Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the accident."

According to TMZ, Lohan is insisting the accident was not her fault and that she was cut off by the truck. But a report on X17Online.com says she sent a text following the accident claiming that her new boyfriend, photographer Gavin Doyle, was actually the one driving.

Still, the actress is not known for being the best driver. In March, she was accused of striking a nightclub manager while behind the wheel of her Porsche, which already had a good amount of damage to its right side. In September 2010, Lohan clipped a baby stroller while speeding around a West Hollywood corner in a Maserati. Her first DUI, in May 2007, resulted in running her car up onto a curb in Beverly Hills, while her second DUI just two months later in July occurred as she chased down her assistant and the young woman's mother while driving an SUV high on cocaine.

In March, a judge finally ruled that Lohan's five-year probation from the first DUI was over. Time will tell if this new incident will land her in hot water with the law again. And if so, Lohan is not taking any chances: her lawyer, Shawn Holley Chapman, met her at the hospital following the crash.

Regardless, we hope Linds is okay!
