If Josh Hutcherson, star of the mega-hit film "The Hunger Games," wanted to prove he's truly arrived in the show business world, he's officially done it. No, not with an award nomination or a sandwich named after him (yet), but with the 19-year-old's purchase of a buzzed-about home with a celebrity pedigree.

Though the purchase price hasn't been confirmed (but some reports say $2.5 million), the Hollywood Hills house had been listed at $2.995 million and was once owned by the late Heath Ledger. The two-bedroom, two-bath residence is dubbed "The Tree House" thanks to its expansive wooden decks surrounded by foliage, which gives the house a feeling of being perched in the treetops.

As for the abode's history, the current owner purchased the place from Ledger's estate after his death in 2008. Ledger had bought the home in 2005 for just over $2.1 million and moved in with then-girlfriend Michelle Williams, and eventually, their daughter Matilda, until the couple broke up in 2007.

But the star lineage goes back further than Ledger. It was Ellen DeGeneres who actually sold the house to the "Brokeback Mountain" actor seven years ago. She and her wife, Portia de Rossi , eventually upgraded to a $29 million Beverly Hills estate, which they expanded with an addition and by buying two neighboring properties. They recently sold the whole enchilada to another member of the Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous club (it's Los Angeles after all!), Ryan Seacrest, for $49 million.
Now back to Josh's more modest pad (relatively speaking, of course): The gated mid-century home was built in 1951, totals 1,861 square feet, and boasts more than 2,000 square feet of outdoor space, including a barbecue and dining area and another deck, which serves as a sort of open-air media room, complete with lounge seating and a movie projector.
Sounds like the perfect place for another "Hunger Games" screening.
