Early Wednesday morning, the rocker's eldest child, 19-year-old daughter Stephanie Rose Bongiovi, reportedly overdosed on heroin inside a dorm room at her upstate New York college. Luckily, the teen survived … but she was subsequently arrested for drug possession.
According to reports, police received a phone call from Hamilton College claiming that someone had overdosed on heroin and was unresponsive. When paramedics arrived, they found Stephanie alive, but still in the possession of a "small amount" of heroin, marijuana, and other drug paraphernalia. Stephanie — Bon Jovi's daughter with his wife of 23 years, Dorothea, with whom he also has three sons — was then arrested and charged with multiple misdemeanors. A 21-year-old male student, who is also from Stephanie's hometown of Red Bank, New Jersey, was arrested and charged with drug possession, as well.
After the incident, the college released a statement: "In addition to violating state law, the actions alleged to have been committed by the students violate Hamilton College policy. The college is cooperating with the police investigation. Our first concern is always for the safety of our students. Out of respect for the privacy of our students and in accordance with federal regulations, we do not discuss individual health or disciplinary matters."
Stephanie was expected to be released from the hospital on Wednesday.
