Gibson. (Roshan Perera/Splash News)Celebrities have been behaving badly for ages, though the public usually only gets second-hand versions of famous folks' temper tantrums. Sometimes, however, we luck out when someone actually tapes a freak-out and shares it with the rest of us — as is the case with Alec Baldwin, Christian Bale, Casey Kasem, Bill O' Reilly, Lily Tomlin, and most recently, Mel Gibson.
In the case of the "Braveheart" actor, a screenwriter he hired for a movie he was developing about Jewish biblical hero Judah Maccabee has released recordings of Gibson ranting at the top of his lungs during a trip to Costa Rica last December because he was enraged that the script was late. In one audio tape -- which you can listen to here -- he can be heard screaming at the writer, Joe Eszterhas, "Why don't I have a first draft of 'The Maccabees?' What the f--k have you been doing?" Although Eszterhas' response is inaudible, Gibson clearly is not satisfied with his excuse. The Oscar winner then goes on a tear about his ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, who he also threatened on audio tape in 2010, lest you forget, and was subsequently ordered to pay $750,000. "I am earning money for a filthy little c--ksucker who takes advantage of me," he screams, as things can be heard being thrown about the room. The argument must have gone down at dinnertime because, strangely, Gibson exclaims, "Who wants to eat? Who the f--k wants to eat? Go have something to eat. Hurraaayyyyy!"
Before releasing the tape, Eszterhas charged that Gibson — who has gone on anti-Semitism tirades in the past — was purposely sabotaging "The Maccabees" because he "hates Jews." In a letter he wrote the actor, which was obtained by TheWrap.com, Eszterhas wrote, "You continually called Jews 'Hebes' and 'oven-dodgers' and 'Jewboys.' It seemed that most times when we discussed someone, you asked 'He's a Hebe, isn't he?' You said most 'gatekeepers' of American companies were 'Hebes' who 'controlled their bosses' … You said the Holocaust was 'mostly a lot of horses--t.' You said the Torah made reference to the sacrifice of Christian babies and infants." Gibson also voiced his hatred of John Lennon's song "Imagine," and said he was "glad" the Beatle was dead. The most frightening of Eszterhas' charges? He also claims that Gibson made threats against Grigorieva's life. "I'm going to kill her!" Gibson allegedly said, adding that he had become friends with two FBI agents who would help him, according to Eszterhas.
Alec Baldwin
In April 2007, audio tape of a jaw-dropping voicemail the "30 Rock" actor left for Ireland, his then-11-year-old daughter with ex Kim Basinger, was leaked onto the Internet. In the two-and-a-half-minute message, Baldwin was incensed because the girl had not answered his call, even though they had agreed upon a time to chat. "You are a rude, thoughtless little pig. You don't have the brains or the decency as a human being," he seethed into the phone. "I don't give a damn that you're 12 years old, or 11 years old, or that you're a child, or that your mother is a thoughtless pain in the ass who doesn't care about what you do as far as I'm concerned." Baldwin then threatened that he was going to fly to LA from NYC for the day to "straighten your ass out." After public outrage ensued, Baldwin apologized — but also blamed Basinger for pushing him to the breaking point.
Christian Bale
A director of photography for "Terminator: Salvation" learned the old saying "Quiet on the set!" the hard way when he accidentally interrupted filming of an intense scene — and the movie's star completely lost it. "I want you off the set!" Bale screamed at Shane Hurlbut in the infamous recording that leaked onto the Web in February 2009. "You pr--k! No, don't just be sorry! Think for one f--king second! What the f--k are you doing? Are you professional or not?" And that was just the beginning of the expletive-laced tirade, during which Bale threatened to quit the movie. After the breakdown went viral — including being mixed into songs on YouTube — the actor apologized profusely. "I was out of order beyond belief," said Bale. "I was way out of order. I acted like a punk. I regret that. There is nobody that has heard that tape that is hit harder by it than me."
Bill O'Reilly

Before he became a Fox News blowhard, O'Reilly hosted the newsmagazine show "Inside Edition" in the early '90s. And during one memorable on-air moment, he completely flipped when he didn't understand a phrase that came up on the Teleprompter. "I don't know what that is," O'Reilly said after stopping mid-sentence. When someone off-camera tried to explain to him they want him to throw to a music video by Sting, which would play over the credits, he grew more agitated, yelling, "I can't read it! There's no words on it! … 'To play us out?' I don't know what that means!" After two more failed attempts at reading the Teleprompter, O'Reilly lost it. "We'll do it live! F--k it! … F--king thing sucks!" After he finally finished the broadcast, O'Reilly stood up, flung his pen, and ripped off his suit jacket.
Lily Tomlin

There was nothing funny about the filming of the 2004 comedy, "I Heart Huckabees" — at least not for Tomlin. In addition to an on-set spat with director David O. Russell, the video of which made the rounds on the Internet, the legendary actress also had a meltdown during a scene in which she's wedged in the front seat of a car with Dustin Hoffman and Isabelle Huppert. It's hard to tell what set her off exactly, but it seems it has to do with the filming being delayed, not what she apparently wanted to hear. "Nooooo!" Tomlin screamed towards the camera. "Goddammit, you f--ked it up! Goddamn you. Now get straight out and help … if you can't help them, help me!" She then tried to exit the car only to find a prop is in the way. "Don't get out," Hoffman calmly implored. Her response? "Shut up! You shut the f--k up!"
Casey Kasem

The smooth-talking "American Top 40" deejay was well known for delivering requests and dedications on his iconic radio program, but one really ticked him off. In an outtake that made its way onto the Internet, Kasem began to read a listener's long-distance dedication to a dead dog named Snuggles, and then suddenly stopped. "When you come out of those up-tempo goddamn numbers, it's hard to make those transitions, and then you got to go into somebody dying … goddammit if we can't come out of a slow record .. I want someone to use their f--king brain to not come out of a record that's up-tempo and I gotta talk about a --king dog dying!"
