You'd think that People magazine might run out of candidates for its annual Sexiest Man Alive one of these days. In the last decade alone, the publication has handed out the honor to outrageously attractive A-listers including Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Matthew McConaughey, Jude Law, and Johnny Depp (twice!). But somehow they've managed to find yet another Hollywood hunk to serve as 2011's Sexiest Man Alive -- Bradley Cooper.

"The Hangover" star, however, doesn't sound quite so sure he's deserving of the honor. "I'm waiting for Dax Shepard to come out, and that it's an episode of 'Punk'd,'" he admits. "I think it's really cool that a guy who doesn't look like a model can have this [title]. I think I'm a decent-looking guy. Sometimes I can look great, and other times I look horrifying."

As for why People chose Cooper as its face of sexy, the mag says it took into account his box-office appeal, good looks (of course), and the lengths he'll go to for romance, including once getting on a plane to go woo a woman. No word on who that particular woman was, of course …

Though he's recently been spotted out and about with Jennifer Lopez, the 36-year-old insists he's single, which often leads the public to jump to conclusions.

"If you're a single man and you happen to be in this business," says Cooper, "you're deemed a player. But I don't see myself as a ladies' man."
There's one lady, however, who he's sure will be thrilled about his impressive new title. "My mother is going to be so happy."
