Nicki Minaj Debuts ‘Right by My Side’ Music Video, Starring Chris Brown and Nas

Nicki Minaj shows a kinder, gentler side in the new music video for her song "Right by My Side" — well, at least in the first half of it. In the beginning of the clip, the R&B singer/rapper sits alone brooding over what appears to be a breakup, before it then starts to go backwards to highlight the ups and downs of the romance between she and her onscreen love interest played by Nas. As she sings, "I'm not living life if you're not by my side," we see the rapper shower Minaj with a brand new car and shopping sprees in Beverly Hills. That's when Chris Brown pops up to sing from the male's perspective, although it's unclear if he's also the third piece in a love triangle.

Then around the 2:49 mark, Minaj brings out her more explicit side with a rap that might cause some listeners to blush, as she is shown conversely sitting on the ground back to back with Nas and dancing with Brown. "I only argue with him when the Lakers on/Other than that, I'm getting my Marc Jacobs on" is the only line suitable for print here.

But by the end of the video we're back to Minaj sitting forlorn by a waterfall when Nas rolls up and surprises her. After planting a kiss on her cheek, things heat up between the two rappers, causing fans to wonder if there was something more to the fireworks. When one tweeted to Minaj, "Ya'll must've practiced that kiss more than once [because] that was perfection," she responded, "Ummm. Yes. Yes we did."

Minaj has said "Right by My Side" was her favorite video to shoot — and we can see why.
