Diddy to Launch His Own Music Cable Channel

Diddy's REVOLT channel will debut in 2013. (Donald Kravitz/Getty Images) I want my Diddy TV? Rap mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs is launching his very own music-and-news cable channel a la MTV, it was announced on Tuesday. REVOLT "will be inspired by music and pop culture with social media interaction for music artists and fans," according to a statement released by Comcast, which will be carrying the channel.

"I grew up watching BET and MTV and HBO and NBC and I had a dream," Diddy, 42, said in an online message posted on his YouTube page. "I had a dream that one day, I would have a chance, an opportunity, to show my perspective, coming from a musical standpoint. I take a lot of pride in having experience, credibility, the authenticity and the relationships to make REVOLT TV the number one name and home for music on television."

Diddy -- who already has his own record label, fashion line, and a restaurant -- describes his latest business venture as being for "the artists," adding, "This is your channel, baby. It's your channel to do what you want to do, how you want to do it. It's your channel, your opportunity, to show your art the way you want to show your art -- uncut, raw, uncensored, not destined by the charts and who's pop. A channel that will give new artists and opportunity to get seen and get heard."

After some confusion from his Twitter followers about whether or not the channel, which will go live in 2013, would primarily cater to an urban audience, Diddy tweeted: "FYI #Revolt is NOT a 'BLACK NETWORK!' I just happen to be Black-Lol. This network is for all colors-all races...TechniColor :)"

Interestingly enough, it was also announced on Tuesday that NBA legend Magic Johnson will be heading up his own cable channel called Aspire. But unlike Diddy, his is intended to "celebrate the successes, achievements, and accomplishments of the African-American community with programming including movies, documentaries, short films, music, and comedies," Comcast said in a statement.

Will this "music and news cable channel" actually play music? Most of the so called music channels no longer play any music on them. Everything is reality shows.

anything diddy touches gets destroyed...i.e. da band, danity kane and day 26 of making the bands. where are they now???
      • A Yahoo! User 2 months ago
but those things were destroyed by his own doing. diddy's good at making things really popular, then dumping them when he's not into it anymore.

Puff Daddy isn't dead by now? Drug overdose, drive by shooting, plane crash, death by cop, vd's. That spoiled brat parasite used to be OK until he kept changing his name; then it became clear that he thinks all his fans are fools because they just sheepishly go along with it and call him by whatever he wants to be called at the time. Those people who do that have no self worth, or else they wouldn't be letting him play name games with them. He, like so many other celebrities just call you all a bunch of worthless vermin. And all you women who think he is so hot, and call him your "boy" would be nothing in his eyes but human rags to wipe his you-know-what with and then discard you like unwanted sloppy seconds.
