How many Victoria's Secret models does it take to croon a Christmas carol correctly? More than seven, apparently.
Donning sheer red lingerie ensembles complete with Santa-style white trim (a holiday wardrobe staple for every woman!), a gaggle of svelte supermodels sing a bumbling version of the classic carol "Deck the Halls" in a new Victoria's Secret commercial that gives viewers an inside peek at a few bloopers not left on the cutting room floor.
In the 90-second spot, Lily Aldridge, Alessandra Ambrosio, Lindsay Ellingson, Erin Heatherton, Miranda Kerr, Doutzen Kroes, and Candice Swanepoel all prance around trimming the tree, each gal takes a turn singing a verse … and some fare better than others.
Heatherton stops in the middle of her verse. "No, is it falalalalalala?" she asks. Later, the 23-year-old drops a batch of gifts she's carrying before running into another roadblock while trying to light some candles.
But it's fellow blonde Kroes who seems to have the most trouble with the tune, mangling the lyrics with lines like "Deck the halls with boughs of jolly" and "Deck the halls of boughs with honey" before throwing her hands up in frustration, shouting "Let's deck 'em with honey!" The crew breaks out in applause after she finally gets her line right.
Seconds later fellow "Angel" Kerr exclaims, "We don't sing this Down Under! We sing 'Santa Baby.'"
"It's not fair to have models sing!" Kroes pouts. Well, life isn't fair, Doutzen, but if it makes you feel any better: Most viewers watching the ad probably aren't paying attention to your singing voice anyway.
