Making his first red carpet appearance since his quickie divorce from Katie Holmes over the summer, the 50-year-old actor shared his holiday plans with reporters at the London premiere of his crime thriller, "Jack Reacher," on Monday night. And even though his custody arrangement with Holmes, 33, allowed him to have Suri for Thanksgiving, the 6-year-old will be spending Christmas with him as well — as will his two older children from his marriage to Nicole Kidman: Connor, 17, and Bella, 20.
"We have got lots of very special things planned," Cruise, who was outfitted in jeans and a snazzy suede blazer, told People magazine. "We are all going to be together. I am looking forward to it."
According to reports, Cruise will be leaving London — where he has been residing since August — to spend the holidays at home in Los Angeles. His $30 million Beverly Hills home, which is 10,286-square-feet with seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms, has more than enough room for his immediate and his extended family, which includes his mother, Mary Lee, his sisters Lee Anne, Cass, and Marian and their children. Describing what it's like to have everyone together at his estate for a family event, Cruise told People in June, "My older children are around, and my nieces, nephews, my sisters and their families. They all love Suri." He added that they like playing board games, including Scrabble and Yahtzee, or "running around the yard kicking soccer balls."

For Thanksgiving, Cruise had Suri flown to London, where he has been hard at work on the sci-fi flick "All You Need Is Kill." Surprisingly, there were no photos of the brief father-daughter reunion, which must have been emotional for the actor because he hadn't seen his youngest child in more than three months. Meanwhile Holmes, who was awarded primary custody in the divorce settlement, went home to Toledo, Ohio, to spend the holiday with her parents and siblings. However, she was only there for one day — long enough to run the local three-mile "Turkey Trot" race with her father — because she had to return home to Manhattan, where she is appearing on Broadway in "Dead Accounts" until February 24.

While Cruise worked the red carpet last night in London, his ex Holmes — whose show is dark on Mondays — let her hair down to attend the Broadway Dreams Foundation's annual Champagne & Caroling Gala in Manhattan. Looking beautiful in a purple gown by Vivienne Westwood, the 33-year-old spent the evening with her divorce lawyer, Jonathan Wolfe, and his wife, as well as her "Dead Accounts" director, Jack O'Brien. "Katie enjoyed two or three glasses of champagne and, by the latter half of the evening, was double-fisting the champagne in one hand with a Diet Coke in the other," a party guest told Us Weekly. "[She] appeared to genuinely have a good time throughout the night."

What a difference a year makes! Last December, Cruise and Holmes were the picture of happiness as they spent the weeks leading up to Christmas with their daughter in Manhattan, taking her to see the "Radio City Christmas Spectacular" and ice skating at The Rink at Rockefeller Plaza. Then they headed to California for the holidays.
Life really does go on...
