Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder (Ben Rose/WireImage)After hiding their romance for more than a year, "Vampire Diaries" co-stars Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder have proven the seriousness of their love by making their trek to buy a Christmas tree together. The couple was snapped inspecting their potential holiday centerpiece on Monday in Atlanta, where their show is filmed.
Although they were rumored to be a real-life couple for months beforehand, it wasn't until September 2011 that Somerhalder finally confirmed their couplehood to Us Weekly. "When you're really close to someone, they can make fun of you a lot and get away with it," he said of Dobrev. "But they sort of poke you in all of the places — it all makes sense because they know you so well and it really pisses you off, but it forces you to sort of be introspective and ask yourself, 'Wow, is that really how people see me?' Apparently so!"
Despite their close relationship, Somerhalder, who turns 34 on December 8, might be on his own later in the season. As Dobrev revealed to Self in October, she has permanent plans to spend the holidays with her fam. "Remembering my roots matters to me. We were on a tight budget growing up, and my parents gave so much to get me where I am," Dobrev shared. "Now, at Christmas, I rent a house in the Rockies and take my family snowboarding."
