The 33-year-old "Glee" star, who is the face of Ann Taylor's holiday ad campaign, shared her holiday shopping secrets during a recent press event — and let's just say she's not the kind of person who waits until the last minute."My gift-giving is very personal, so I start really early, usually around October," Hudson told AccessHollywood.com. "I love making gifts or finding just the right thing for someone, so I like to give myself plenty of time."
One of the must-have gifts on her list? "My mom and sister-in-law will definitely be getting yummy cashmere scarves from Ann Taylor," she said of Hawn and her brother Oliver Hudson's wife, Erinn Bartlett. "I love them and I know they will too!"
And if you're giving to Hudson — hint, hint to Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy — it's not the price tag that's important, it's really the thought that counts. "I love gifts with sentimental value attached to them, especially something that is handmade," she told Access. "You can't go wrong with anything to do with cooking or baking for me and I love candles!"
So what are other stars shopping for this holiday?
Well, Sara Gilbert is in the market for a lot of things — because she hasn't even started her shopping yet! "I've put it off because we've been working so much," Gilbert, who has been filming "The Talk" in Manhattan this week, told omg!. "Now when I get home I really have to start my shopping. And I have to go out and do it — I've waited too long to buy anything online."
Mariah Carey could just ask her pal Santa to deliver her gifts, but she prefers doing her own shopping. (Getty …Meanwhile, Taylor Swift has been thinking of others while on her tour of England with Harry Styles. While visiting the Lake District with her new One Direction boyfriend, they made a pit stop into a World of Beatrix Potter store. After dancing around the store to the holiday music that was playing (ah, young love!), Swift purchased some soft plush toys as gifts.
Mariah Carey might send an assistant (or husband Nick Cannon!) out to do some of her shopping, but not all of it. Earlier this week the singer tweeted a photo of herself getting glam before hitting the stores. "Getting ready for some Christmas shopping," she tweeted. Hmmm … We wonder if she heard her famed holiday song, "All I Want for Christmas Is You," playing on the loudspeaker at any of the stores she visited.
Kristin Cavallari put together her own holiday gift guide and it's no surprise that the new mom included something parent-friendly. "The Baby Bullet is perfect for making your own baby food," the reality TV star told Celebuzz. Now we know how Cam's baby food is served!
Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton make sure a pet supply store is on their shopping list. The devoted animal owners, who have six rescue dogs, buy presents for each pooch. "All the dogs get their individually wrapped gifts," Lambert told People. "They're spoiled!" Lucky dogs!
Ozzy Osbourne doesn't have to buy anything for Sharon this Christmas. (Getty Images)Lea Michele embraced the spirit of the holiday by giving her time to five girls, who are patients at the Children's Hospital Los Angeles. The Candie's spokesperson brought the gals to a local Kohl's store, where each one was given a $500 gift card. They also got the gift of Michele's fashion advice — she helped each one select her own clothes and accessories.
Lastly, Sharon Osbourne, who underwent a double mastectomy earlier this year, told omg! that what she wants for Christmas this year can't be found in a store. "You know what I want? I want some good spirituality," she says. "I just want some harmony. That's all. Nothing else."
We hope she gets it.
