• Tom Brady: 'I Want a Lot of Kids'

  Tom Brady talks fatherhood, football, and marriage in the new issue of Details. Steven Klein/Details Some New England Patriots fans are worried that Tom Brady, their star quarterback whose 2008 NFL season abruptly came to an end when he injured his knee during the team's opening game against the Kansas City Chiefs, has gotten soft. He's been photographed eating out of his supermodel wife Gisele Bundchen's hand in Mexico, pedals around Boston with Bundchen's Yorkie, Vida, sitting up front in a bicycle basket, and reveals in the new issue of Details (on newsstands September 8) that he thinks modeling is harder than playing pro football. Hmmm ... sounds like a man in love to me! And who can blame him? Gisele is gorgeous.
  
  But Brady also has another love: his son John (better known as Jack), who will turn 2 on August 22. Two months after ending his relationship with actress Bridget Moynahan in 2006, the NFL star learned that his ex was pregnant with his child. Although it was unexpected, the situation forced him to "grow up in a lot of ways."

  "That's not how you envisioned your life, that's not how you envisioned having children, but it happens," states Brady. "Life is not living in the suburbs with a white picket fence. That's not life. Somehow our American culture has made it out that that's what life needs to be -- and that if it's not that, it's all screwed up. It's not. You go through life and you try the best you can."
  
  Fatherhood also forced him to change his priorities. "An hour used to be a big commitment, and now you chase a little boy around for eight hours a day, waiting to catch him if he falls and changing his dirty diaper. You think, 'How crazy is this?'" he shares. "I want a lot of kids," he continues. "I'd love four or five. We'll see. It's not always my decision."

  Although rumors have been swirling that Gisele is pregnant, Tom won't comment on the subject. "It's just not something we discuss with anybody," he says. "It'll be obvious when it happens."
