Being a celebrity means that everyone knows your name ... and your kids' names. Celeb baby monikers are always big news and are as famous for their edginess as they are for their lineage. Apple, Maddox, Kingston, Zuma, Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz ... the list of uniquely named famous tots goes on and on ... and on to the odd, like Bronx, Banjo, Zolten, and Atlas. On this episode of "Spotlight to Nightlight," Ali talks to actress Constance Marie about the daunting task of naming your little ones.

    Ali's Take
My husband Alejandro and I, like most parents, bought every baby name book that was out there. We knew we wanted a name for our daughter that was classic and timeless, and we also wanted something Spanish because we both have ancestors from Spain. Family is the most important thing to us, so we decided to create a name from Alejandro's grandmother's name, Stella, and my grandmother's name, Agnes (in Spanish it translates to Ines). The end result: Estela Ines. It fits our little girl perfectly and we know she will really appreciate her name once she understands that she was named after her two strong, amazing great-grandmothers.

According to baby name consultant Jennifer Moss, the number one thing to think about when giving a child a name is can they live with this name from childhood (Is this name an easy target for teasing?) to adulthood (Will this name fit when they are in the working world?). Another important thing to consider is NOT thinking too much. Getting too much input from family and friends can be frustrating. You can't please everybody.

I think at some point a lot of kids wish they had a different name. I know I did. As a kid, I had always wished my name was Alexandra, and Constance said she had always wanted to be named Sue! I was named after Ali MacGraw. My mom was a big fan of the movie "Love Story." After all that wishing I had another name, now I can't imagine being named anything else! Ali just suits me. I think when it comes to names, parents know what's a good fit. Maybe that's why a lot of parents don't decide on a name until they're at the hospital with their new baby in their arms; suddenly it just comes to them. I guess the best advice for new or soon-to-be parents is to trust your gut, not only for when it comes to naming your child, but for everything else!

Just remember when picking your yuppie name for the crumb cruncher, they'll be stuck with it forever (unless they're lucky and earn a better nickname or change it if you really suck). It's okay not to name them Jack or Jill but Bronx Mogli? Someone needed an intervention .
