(Globo/X17online.com)Matthew McConaughey doesn't usually miss an opportunity to take his shirt off, so he seemed rather conservatively dressed for a day at the beach with his children on Wednesday. The Texan took a break from promoting his next film "Magic Mike" — in which he plays a former stripper! — to hang with his 3-year-old son, Levi, and 1-year-old daughter, Vida, at a Malibu beach.
(Splash News)Matthew, 42, watched contently as his kids dug a huge hole in the sand, showing his own boyish side by making a sand pile with his feet. Later, Levi appeared to be having the time of his life during a game of tag of with his dad, who seemed so confident he wouldn't be caught that he was running with a coffee mug in his hand. During their fun, the boy was dressed in a Brazilian soccer shirt — a nod to the South American country which is home to Matthew's fiancé, model/TV host Camila Alves.
Little Levi has spent his entire life playing on the beaches of Malibu. Just a month after he was born, Matthew and Camila brought him to the beach in a baby sling — and over the years he's often been photographed there, playing in the surf or running around in a diaper. However, in December the family (along with Camila's mother) relocated to Texas, where Matthew grew up, and they now call Austin home.
"No one recognizes you and no one asks you, 'Hey, what do you do?,' because I don't think anyone cares," Matthew said soon after his big move. "Fridays show up sooner here. You want to get along in Austin, you want to get along in Texas, all you have to do is be yourself."
He added: "My mother-in-law from Brazil has traveled around the world and we've lived in Los Angeles and New York. She says to me the other day, 'In L.A., people will walk on your back and stand on your shoulders to get where they are going, in New York, they will just pull out a gun and tell you they will kill you. Here in Texas, everybody walks together.' I think that is a compliment, Austin."
Matthew also recently traveled to France for the Cannes Film Festival. He and Camila attended the premiere of his drama "Mud," and he escorted his pregnant co-star Reese Witherspoon down the famed red stairs of the Palais des Festivals. He was also promoting "The Paperboy," in which he appears with Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron.
But before either of those projects hits the big screen, Matthew will next be seen in "Magic Mike." He plays Dallas, a strip club owner, and his wardrobe — when he is actually dressed — includes lots of tank tops. Hmm … think he went "shopping" in the movie's wardrobe department for this beach outfit?
