Look Inside Mariah Carey’s Luxe Nursery

Songstress Mariah Carey requires that her dressing room for performances be decked out with two dozen white roses and vanilla aromatherapy candles, with no harsh lighting, no busy patterns on the furniture, and a temperature of 75 degrees. So it's no surprise that following the birth of twins Moroccan and Monroe on April 30, she had a few ideas about how she wanted their new nurseries -- yes, that's more than one -- to look. She even worked with Gail Sedigh of AFK Furniture and Mario Buatta to ensure the babies' rooms in both her mansion in Bel Air, California, and her penthouse in NYC's Tribecca neighborhood shared with hubby Nick Cannon were all that she hoped they would be.

"I wanted to create a beautiful, tranquil, cozy environment," the "Shake It Off" singer tells Life & Style about the rooms. She adds that working with others was "so challenging because I had such specific ideas I wanted implemented. I feel like I'm bringing two individuals into the world, so I wanted to do more than cookie-cutter styles in blue and pink."

The finished product certainly isn't what you'd find in just any home. It includes the traditional plush stuffed animals, then the not-so traditional cribs worth $3,594 each, and -- get this -- matching outfits from designer Roberto Cavalli. I can only imagine what their first cars will be like!

Extravagant as it may seem, the 41-year-old first-time mom to cuties she calls Roc and Roe confesses that the expense is worth it to her. To say she loooves being a momma would be an understatement.

"I feel so doubly blessed to have such a perfect start to our family," she gushed. "It's perfect -- it couldn't be better."
