Jon, who lived a lavish life in New York City with his much-younger girlfriend after ending his marriage in 2009, also gives himself a pat on the back by claiming he "decided to take the high road and quit reality television" — even though TLC let him go and turned the show into "Kate Plus 8." "Now look, I'm going to end up in jail because I can't afford to pay child support to Kate who has plenty of money," he added, taking a swipe at his famous ex, despite recently reconciling with her.
But it sounds like that truce has fallen apart because Jon continued with the jabs at Kate, 37, who is reportedly pitching her own reality show following her as she looks for love. "I think this is completely ridiculous!" he also tells Star. "We have eight children and they need us, she is putting reality TV and dating in front of the kids who need to have their mother. Why not date the old fashioned way? I know I have a lot to be thankful for, but Kate's need to be famous is not one of them."
Jon did not say if he would attempt to block Kate's show if it included their children, a move he made when she began production on "Kate Plus 8." When that TLC series was canceled last summer, Jon was very vocal about how "relieved" he was that his kids' daily lives would no longer be filmed for television. "I hope they can have more private family moments," he said at the time. "I hope that this will bring more privacy to my children and that they can get the proper attention they need for any personal issues they might have in the future."
