Last spring, when Jessica Simpson signed on to be a mentor on the then-upcoming reality competition show "Fashion Star" she knew that a blitz of media promotion around the time of the show's premiere (now) would come with the gig. What she didn't know is that she'd be heavily pregnant at the time. Heavily pregnant.

But the 31-year-old, who's expecting her first child (a girl!) with her pro football player fiancé Eric Johnson, has been a good sport about making the appearances. On Monday, she hit both "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and "The Tonight Show" and was happy to answer questions about her conversation-worthy baby bump.

Despite the fact that Jessica, who announced her pregnancy on Halloween, has been described as "ready to pop" for what seems like months now, the singer/fashion designer insists that she actually isn't. When host Jay Leno joked that he wondered if she was off having the baby when she was delayed coming onstage, the star quickly set the record straight: "Not quite yet, we have some time." After Jay responded with, "It doesn't look like you've got a lot of time" (ouch!), Jess didn't miss a beat, adding, "It doesn't feel like I have a lot of time."

The mom-to-be also described having the "daylights" scared out of her by Braxton Hicks contractions, which can sometimes be mistaken for labor pains later in a pregnancy. "I'm like wow, labor is really going to hurt. I have so much respect for my mom and all the women across the world. This is a tough thing," Jessica said during the interview. "And I'm wearing six-inch heels today. It's a lot of weight to carry on six inches."

The 5'3" Jessica recently revealed her weight was up to 170 pounds back when she posed nude on the cover of Elle magazine a couple months ago (though the issue was just published). "I don't quite look like that anymore," she admitted to Jay when he held up the photo, which she said she hadn't yet discussed with her minister-manager dad Joe.

As for cravings, the Southern gal says she's obsessed with something called slutty brownies — made with layers of cookie dough, Oreos, and brownies baked together.

When asked why how the sweet treats ended up with such a risqué name, Jess came back with a zinger: "I don't know. I guess a lot goes into it?" Oh, Jessica. No comment.
