Jack and Pearl (twitter.com/MrJackO)Jack Osbourne's new motto, "adapt and overcome," appears to be working! Despite his recent Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis, the son of Sharon and Ozzy is remaining upbeat and focusing on the positive, including his two-month-old daughter Pearl Clementine.
On Tuesday, Jack tweeted a photo of himself and his little water bug in a swimming pool. The adorable little girl had a white cap and pink sunglasses for her dip with dad. The 26-year-old, who revealed some of his many tattoos in the photo, beamed as he kept a firm grip on Pearl, whose mother is his fiancée, Lisa Stelly.
While this tiny glimpse into his life appears to be picture perfect, Jack — a TV producer — was given life-changing news just two weeks after Pearl was born in April. After suddenly losing eyesight in one eye, tests revealed that he is suffering from Multiple Sclerosis — the autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system, often causing vision loss, paralysis, and cognitive damage.
"The timing was so bad," Jack told Hello! magazine of the diagnosis. "I'd just had a baby, work was going great … I kept thinking: 'Why now?'" But after having time to process the news, he changed his tune. "I got really sad for about two days, and after that I realized: Being angry and upset is not going to do anything at this point, if anything it's only going to make it worse… 'adapt and overcome' is my new motto."
Jack, who grew up on camera as part of the MTV reality series "The Osbournes," says he's focusing on the positive. "It's one of those things you take as it comes," he told People. "It's all about your outlook." Noting: "I never felt sorry for myself. [I viewed it as] a bit of a buzzkill."
Jack, who will marry Stelly this fall in a small ceremony, has said that having Pearl is helping him get through this difficult time. "It would have been a tougher pill to swallow if I didn't have a partner or a baby to take care of," he told People. "I can't sit around and think about myself all day. Lisa and I are too busy changing poopy diapers and trying to figure out why she's crying at 3 a.m.!"
And enjoying the occasional afternoon swim, of course.
