Goddess: Celebrity Moms and DadsHilary Duff Talks ‘Easy’ Birth of Baby Luca, Having Chips and Soda in the Delivery Room
Hilary Duff's transition into motherhood has been so easy she worries she's going to annoy other mothers out there with some of her new mom stories.
Appearing on a special Mother's Day episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Friday, Duff talked about her 7-week-old son Luca Comrie, who she says has been a dream baby. "He's sleeping, which is incredible," the 24-year-old said on the talk show. "I feel weird, because it seems like I'm bragging, but he sleeps from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. It is possible, ladies! It didn't happen right away, but the past three weeks he's an 11 to 6er."
Even the delivery of the baby boy last March was relatively painless."It was very easy," she said. "I went into labor at about one in the morning and I very calmly had my bags packed and woke my husband [Mike Comrie] up after about three hours of walking up and down my hallway. Then I'm like, 'OK, it's time to go, let's go now.' We got in the car and drove to the hospital and that was it."
She said that her mother and sister, Haylie, added some funny moments to the labor process. While at the hospital waiting for Luca's big arrival, the women were hungry and made a run to the food court for snacks. While they were gone, Duff's labor progressed and she entered the pushing stage. "Things start rolling and all of the sudden the doors bust open and my sister and my mom come flying in," Duff recounts. "They're like, 'We got barbecue chips and root beer, guys!' I'm like, 'What? I'm pushing!' They were just arriving for a show with their chips and their root beer."
Although things seem to be going very well for the new mom, she did note that it's "a lot of work." However, "what is to come is such an amazing journey … It's just like the best thing that's ever happened to you."
