Katherine Heigl and her hubby Josh Kelly recently adopted a baby girl from Korea.

Babies are the hottest accessories in Hollywood, and adopting seems to be the most popular way to get one. A few weeks ago, Jon Cryer and his wife, Lisa Joyner, added half a woman to their brood when they adopted a baby named Daisy (he has a 9-year-old son from a previous marriage). And while Katherine Heigl didn't get "Knocked Up," she and husband Josh Kelley did recently start a family, adopting a 10-month-old Korean girl they named Nancy Leigh.
Cryer and Heigl join a long list of stars, from Mia Farrow to Madonna, who have opted to adopt through the years.
See More Celebrities Who Have Adopted
Mia Farrow
Mia Farrow is the mother of all celebrity adopters (pun intended). In fact, of her 15 children, 11 are adopted. She took in the three oldest kids (Soon-Yi, Lark Song, and Summer Song) when she was married to pianist-composer Andre Previn. While with director Woody Allen, she adopted Moses Amadeus and Dylan O'Sullivan. And on her own, she became mother to Tam (who died of heart failure at the age of 21), Isaiah Justus, Kaeli-Shea, Frakie-Minh, Thaddeus V., and Gabriel Wilk. But the generosity of her spirit has often been overshadowed by controversy. In 1992, news broke that Farrow found out that Woody was romancing her oldest adopted daughter, Soon-Yi. While both Allen and Soon-Yi insist that he was never a father figure to her, he had been with Mia since Soon-Yi was ten and was father to three of her siblings (through both child birth and adoption). But, as Woody has said, "The heart wants what it wants," and apparently Woody's heart really wanted Soon-Yi. They've been married since 1997.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt
If anyone stands to give Mia Farrow a run for her money in the adoption game, it's Angelina Jolie. Angie has adopted three children (first on her own and then with her current partner, Brad Pitt): Maddox from Cambodia, Zahara from Ethiopia, and Pax from Vietnam. At one time, rumors abounded that Angelina wanted to adopt a baby from every country in the world. That's about 194 babies, for those of you keeping track. If it's true, she has her work cut out for her. Three down, 191 to go.
Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman
Early on in her marriage to megastar Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman suffered a miscarriage. While she won't discuss the circumstances publicly, she has said that this led to their first adoption of a baby girl, Bella. A couple of years later, they brought home a boy they named Connor. And while Nic loved raising her two children, reports say she had always yearned to give birth. Her wishes came true in 2008, when she and her husband, country singer Keith Urban, welcomed Sunday Rose into the world. Nic admits that she'd love to have more kids, but she vehemently denied recent rumors that she and Keith are planning to adopt a baby from Vietnam.
Madonna
It seems like Madonna can't do anything without controversy -- even something as seemingly kind-hearted as adopting a child in need. So her critics were happy to jump on the Madge-bashing bandwagon when she went to an underdeveloped country in southeast Africa to adopt a baby boy. Attacked with accusations that she was using her celebrity to circumvent Malawian law that stated non-residents couldn't adopt, Madonna ultimately won and took baby boy David Banda home. Her second Malawian adoption, of 3-year-old Mercy James, underwent the same scrutiny and ultimately reached the same happy ending.
Hugh Jackman
After two miscarriages and failed attempts with in vitro fertilization, Hugh Jackman and his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, decided to adopt. Only problem was that the process in their native Australia was grueling, sometimes taking 10 years and costing as much as $40,000. So they ultimately used their U.S. citizenship to adopt Stateside and brought home baby boy Oscar in 2000. Five years later, they adopted a little girl, Ava. Still dissatisfied with the Australian system, Deborra campaigns for a restructuring of the Australian adoption system, and she and Hugh have participated in Australias annual Adoption Awareness Week.
Rosie O'Donnell
Gay talk show host Rosie O'Donnell may seem aggressive to some people, but you have to respect her for fighting for a worthy cause. Rosie is the mother of three adopted children and one daughter born to her partner, Kelli Carpenter. An outspoken advocate for gay adoption, Rosie became so passionate about the topic that she even funded the New Jersey adoption agency Children of the World, which helped her with her own kids. But, according to some reports, the company had its license revoked in 2007.
Sheryl Crow
The seeming fairy tale relationship of Sheryl Crow and Lance Armstrong ended in 2005, when it became clear that she wanted to have kids and he wasn't ready for more (he already had three). Faced almost immediately after the split with news that she had breast cancer, Crow said she started to reevaluate her traditional views of family. So when she completed her treatment, she started the adoption process right away and a year later welcomed a 2-week-old baby boy named Wyatt. And Lance? His current girlfriend, Anna Hansen, gave birth to a baby boy earlier this year.
Michelle Pfeiffer
After her first marriage to Peter Horton ended in 1988, Michelle Pfeiffer seemed to bury herself in her work, making back-to-back movies, including "The Fabulous Baker Boys," "Frankie and Johnny," "Batman Returns," and "The Age of Innocence." So in 1992, convinced that she didn't want another man in her life but wanting a baby, Michelle began the process of adopting the fifth child of a nurse who couldn't support another kid. Within weeks, and quite unexpectedly, she met TV producer David E. Kelley, and they fell in love. Months later, invitations were sent out for baby Claudia Rose's christening. But the day before the event, Michelle called friends to announce that the gathering would really be for her wedding to Kelley. She gave birth to a son, John, the following year.
Sharon Stone
While married to newspaper editor Phil Bronstein (yes, he's the guy who was bitten by the Komodo dragon at the Los Angeles Zoo), they adopted a baby boy named Roan. After her divorce, Sharon brought two more kids into her life: Laird Vonne Stone and Quinn Kelly. But, being the nonconformist that she is, Sharon also adopted grandparents for herself and her first son. According to reports, the "Basic Instinct" star met Eileen Mitzman at a fund-raising event and soon after asked Eileen and her husband if she could adopt them. After careful consideration, they agreed.
Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Guest
Actress Jamie Lee Curtis knew that if she and her actor-director husband, Christopher Guest, wanted a family, they were going to have to adopt due to infertility. So two years after they wed, the couple adopted their daughter, Annie. Jamie Lee never expected to have a second child. But when Annie was 9, circumstances arose that gave Jamie Lee and Christopher a chance to welcome a newborn baby boy into their home. Now a children's author, Jamie Lee has written a book about adoption called "Tell Me Again About the Night I Was Born."
Calista Flockhart
Calista Flockhart was a single working woman when she decided to adopt a baby on her own in January 2001. She raised the newborn baby alone until just over a year later, when she met Harrison Ford at the 2002 Golden Globe Awards. Ford, who already had four grown children, was happy to become an active part of the young boy's life. And now, with the couples engagement confirmed, there are rumors that Harrison will make it official and adopt Liam, too.
