McLean and Karidis in 2011 (Amanda Leddy/Splash News)It's a honeymoon baby for AJ McLean! The Backstreet Boy and his new bride, Rochelle Karidis, are expecting their first child.
Over the weekend the singer, who married Karidis in December, shared the big announcement in a video he posted on YouTube. The parents-to-be were seated on a brick staircase holding hands while AJ did most of the talking.
"I just wanted to say thank you guys for all your love and support," said the 34-year-old singer. We recently got married — I was the most recent Backstreet Boy to take the plunge. Because we love you all so much, we wanted to share with you, for the first time, something very special."
They delivered the kicker together, smiling while announcing: "We're having a baby!"
This will be the first child for the couple who tied the knot in Beverly Hills late last year. The gothic-themed ceremony took place under a clear tent at the Beverly Hills Hotel and their wedding invites memorably featured their names written out in bloody lettering. The bride wore a black dress while the groom had on a white suit. Attendees of the event included his Backstreet Boys bandmates Kevin Richardson, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell and Nick Carter.
Nearly two years earlier, McLean proposed to Karidis while celebrating his 32nd birthday at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. He asked the DJ to cut the music, brought Karidis up to the stage and then dropped down to one knee to pop the question. "She is my true best friend," he told MTV News following their engagement. "She is absolutely amazing. She's very talented ... supportive ... understanding. She's everything you can possibly want in someone, plus 10-gazllion more."
Although McLean previously told People that they planned to wait "about three years before we have kids," they recently moved from their Hollywood home to a larger place in the Valley which was family friendly.
