Lauren Conrad celebrates the release of her new book, "L.A. Candy." Frazer Harrison/Getty Images Reality TV star Lauren Conrad, who moved to Los Angeles and interned at Teen Vogue on the first season of "The Hills," has penned a novel. The book, titled "L.A. Candy," is about -- are you sitting down? -- a young woman who moves to Los Angeles for an internship and winds up being the subject of a reality show. Check out this excerpt on Teen Vogue.
Well, I guess they always say "write what you know." Still, you'd have to be a pretty big "Hills" fan to sit down and read 336 pages of LC's storytelling -- and if you are (poor thing), then you're probably in for some deja vu. Conrad admits that while the book isn't completely autobiographical, some of the characters and situations are inspired by real life. (That is, if you consider events orchestrated by TV producers and covered by multiple camera angles to be "real life.")
"L.A. Candy" threatens to be the first in a series of books about the main character, Jane, and her BFF Scarlett. On Wednesday, Conrad and her actual BFFs celebrated the book's release in their natural environment: a Beverly Hills bash. You can pick up a copy of the novel when it hits bookstores on June 16.
