The new cast of "Fame" MGM I'm betting that many of you haven't seen the original "Fame," and if that's the case, SHAME ON YOU! The film, which followed immensely talented students at the New York High School of Performing Arts, became an instant hit in 1980 and even spawned numerous award-winning songs, including the title track and my personal favorite, "I Sing the Body Electric."

And, since Hollywood can't seem to come up with any fresh ideas (no, "The Hangover" doesn't count), we're in store for an update come fall. On September 25, MGM will release a "loose remake" of "Fame," written by Aline Brosh McKenna ("The Devil Wears Prada") and Allison Burnett.

Am I excited? Kinda. Am I a little nervous? Yep. I love the classic film with all of my heart, and I'm just worried that the new version will hurt the legacy of the original. Will that stop me from seeing the reboot? Definitely not. I will be there opening night ... or, at the premiere if the studio invites me! I must admit that I am looking forward to seeing what the new stars of the movie are capable of. "So You Think You Can Dance" season 4 finalist Kherington Payne is on board, as are Emmy winners Kelsey Grammer, Megan Mullally, and my girl ... master choreographer, Debbie Allen!

With the country's talent show obsession still in full force thanks to the "Step Up" film franchise and TV shows such as the aforementioned "SYTYCD," "American Idol," and MTV's "Dance Crew," the new "Fame" will likely fly high. Check out the recently released trailer, and let me know what you think of it.

Are you interested in seeing the new “Fame” flick?

ughhh the original fame is one of my favorite movies and i'm sure this is gonna be just a stupid step-up rip-off and that makes me incredibly sad.

IT should have Irene Cara IN IT! There better be a character just like my favorite in the old one RALPH GARCI and DORIS FENSHECHER (I mean DAPHNE!) OH yeah and Bruno and Coco and LEROY! I hope the new characters are just as defined as the OLD ones! This movie means sooo much to! It really changed my life! (THE OLD ONE!) This is my favorite movie and I hope they don't RUIN IT!
