Miley Cyrus stars in "The Last Song"
Sam Emerson/Touchstone Pictures
The trailer for Miley Cyrus' new movie, "The Last Song," was just released yesterday. If you don't know much about the film, which is based on the sappy novel by Nicholas Sparks ("The Notebook," "Message in a Bottle"), let's just say it doesn't have anything to do with Hannah Montana or Billy Ray Cyrus, who usually plays Miley's on-screen pop!
In the flick, Cyrus portrays a troubled yet gifted teen pianist from NYC named Ronnie Miller, whose mother sends her to live with her estranged father (played by Greg Kinnear) for the summer in a Southern beach town. In addition to the family drama that ensues, Ronnie, of course, finds herself falling for a jock named Will. Ironically, rumor has it that Miley's co-star, Liam Hensworth, is now her real-life boyfriend. Hey, what's summer without a little romance?
While Sparks' fans are sure to love the sentimental story, the big question is: Are Miley fans ready to see her in a more mature role?
Check out the preview below and see what you think:
Look for "The Last Song" to hit theaters in April 2010.
