After rising to mega fame as a Disney star, Cyrus took the path that many other child actors have and rebelled against her saccharine-sweet persona. Posing Topless on the Cover of Vanity Fair at 15
The world saw a lot more of Miley than we bargained for in June 2008 when the then-15-year-old appeared topless on the cover of Vanity Fair. Sure, she had her back to the camera (and a blanket strategically placed around her waist), but the shocking image did not sit well with Disney or parents of her young impressionable fans — especially since this incident came just weeks after too-sexy shots of the teen were leaked online from a hacked phone. "I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed," Miley said in a statement about the Annie Leibovitz portrait. A year after Vanity Fair-gate, Miley, then just 16, performed her family-friendly song "Party in the U.S.A." at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards … while writhing up and down against a stripper pole affixed to the top of an ice cream cart. As you can imagine, that also didn't go over well, considering the age of her audience. But she had one supporter: her famous father and "Hannah Montana" co-star, Billy Ray Cyrus. "You know what? I just think that Miley loves entertaining people," he told "Access Hollywood" at the time. "I always tell her to love what you're doing and stay focused for the love of the art and not worry so much about opinion."
Giving a 44-Year-Old Man a Lap Dance
Miley has always had a thing for older guys — before getting together with 22-year-old Liam Hemsworth, she dated Justin Gaston when she was just 15 and he was 20! Still, she skipped an entire generation when the 16-year-old was videotaped in the summer of 2009 giving 44-year-old Adam Shankman a lap dance at the wrap party for her movie, "The Last Song," which he directed. Miley's X-rated behavior with the openly-gay Shankman was deemed so "dirty" by the parents of the young children in attendance, some "actually left the party and took their kids home," an eyewitness told Radar Online at the time.
Smoking Salvia From a Bong
Less than a week after her 18th birthday — which she celebrated at a Hollywood nightclub, no less — Miley's antics took a different turn when a video of her smoking from a bong surfaced online. In the clip, the teen complains, "I'm having a little bit of a bad trip," to a friend filming her … and then goes on an insane giggle fit after she thinks one of the guys in the room looks like Hemsworth. "What the hell is that?" Miley yells in the video. "Is that my boyfriend? Is that me tripping?" But the public backlash died down a bit after it was revealed that she had not been smoking marijuana, but rather the legal hallucinogen salvia.

Miley started off 2012 with a bang when she posed for photos at Liam's birthday bash in January licking, well, how do we say this gently … a cake shaped like a giant penis. Although only 19 at the time, eyewitnesses told TMZ that Miley was clearly drinking alcohol and appeared drunk when she got a little freaky with the phallic-like confection. Still, despite the embarrassment of her naughty behavior on his big night, Liam still popped the question to Miley just five months later — which we thought was her most-shocking moment to date, until she buzzed off all her hair in August.
