Doug Inglish/Vanity Fair Every month, the first page of the Vanity Fair's Vanities section features an up-and-coming actor with a hotly anticipated project in the pipeline. This month it's Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The 28-year old crushes on Zooey Deschanel in "(500) Days of Summer" -- and portrays the world's biggest villain in "G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra," which hits theaters on August 7.
Although he became a teen heartthrob while starring on "3rd Rock From the Sun" as alien Tommy Solomon, Joe decided to take a break from acting when the sitcom went off the air. In 2001, he enrolled at Columbia University in NYC, where he studied history, literature, and French poetry. Sigh. He's cute and has brains, too!
