Hayden Panettiere has pretty much lived her whole life in the public eye. At 11 months old, she did her first commercial, then went on to appear on the daytime dramas "One Life to Live" and "Guiding Light." Although they sound like cool gigs for a kid, Hayden's young classmates weren't impressed.
"I remember hearing in first grade, 'Oh, why does she get to skip school?" the 19-year-old actress recalls in the August issue of Details. "It wasn't like I suddenly started feeling different. I always knew that I was. I never felt I missed out -- in fact, it was like, 'Oh, thank God I'm not that.'" By "that," she means a regular kid.

Although she was primarily homeschooled, Hayden continued to be teased by her peers whenever she did attend class. In middle school, she was even punched in the face! "I was tortured, emotionally tortured by these girls," shares the "Heroes" hottie. "Every time I came back from filming, it would be me trying to find my way back into the clique. And they weren't having it."
The "Heroes" starlet kicks back and relaxes.

Now, Panettiere is getting the last laugh. Ironically, she even plays the most popular girl in school in the new teen comedy, "I Love You, Beth Cooper," which hits theaters on July 10.
