Gym Advice From the ‘Jersey Shore’ Guys

The dudes from "Jersey Shore" upgrade their gym clothes in the October GQ. - Eric Ray Davidson/GQPauly D, Vinny, Ronnie, and The Situation can now work on the "G" in their GTL (gym, tan, laundry) way of life in style. In the October issue of GQ magazine, the guys get a serious upgrade on the threads they typically wear to the gym. Ratty tank tops and pants decorated with skulls, tigers, and flames are traded for monochromatic and functionable workout wardrobes.

The guys also offer their tips on maintaining a buff -- yet orange -- physique as only they can. First off, the reality stars advise against personal trainers. "I used to be a trainer," Vinny says, "and 90 percent of the people who use trainers are women and old people." Pauly D agrees: "Sometimes I look at the trainers at the gym, and I look better than them," he brags. "I'm not gonna take advice from somebody who doesn't look better than me, bro."

Also -- and this is important -- it's OK to stare at yourself in the mirror just a little while you sweat it out. Sammi's sweetheart Ronnie explains there's more to it than just loving your reflection. "It's not just that you want to stare at yourself," he says. "It's partly that. But you're also watching to make sure you're doing everything properly."

Even though he's famous for his rock-hard abs, The Situation says dudes who lack them shouldn't let that interfere with their game. Instead, "be confident in what you got," the new "Dancing With the Stars" contestant says.

After all that hard work, there is great reward. Pauly D, for example, recently received quite the compliment regarding his physique. "It was my birthday this weekend, and these girls put cake on my body and ate it off," he explains. "One girl said, 'You have the nicest chest I ever ate cake off.' I got pictures to prove it."
