It’s a ‘Glee’ Thang for Heather Morris

Although she's side character on "Glee," Heather Morris, who portrays ditzy cheerleader Brittany S. Pierce, often steals the show with her daft one-liners. But in real life, the 23-year-old is far from being a dumb blonde. In an interview with Teen Vogue, Morris notes that she always knew she wanted to become a performer -- "I found a paper I wrote in kindergarten class about what I wanted to be when I grew up and I wrote 'a famous singer'!" -- and also reveals that her own high school experience wasn't exactly gleeful.

"Honestly, I didn't enjoy it," she says. "My dad passed away before my freshman year, and it altered how I thought. I was depressed -- I didn't hang out with my friends. I worked through it by dancing."

Fortunately, dancing not only helped her through a tough time in her life -- but led to a professional career. Before landing a gig on "Glee," Heather was a backup dancer on Beyonce's Single Ladies tour.

"We had 12-hour days of nonstop dancing," she shares of the experience. "It was so cool to go around the world."

All that dancing has also given Morris a fab physique, although she claims the secret behind her incredible bod is "Adrenaline! Though, I always make sure I get eight hours of sleep because I know that that feeds my energy the next day."

That must also be why Heather can't stand having any downtime. When she's not working, one of her hobbies is crocheting baby blankets. "My mom volunteers at a teen pregnancy support center. One day she handed me a ball of yarn, and I got hooked -- knitting is so relaxing. I also bought a camera recently, and my roommate and I are trying to start a production company. We're finishing up our first short film, which will be on Funnyordie.com."
