#TBT: The Early Years of Kris and Bruce Jenner

Then: Former Olympian Bruce Jenner and mother-of-four Kris Kardashian met on a blind date in 1990 where he quickly won her heart with his dinner order.

"I thought, 'I love this guy, he has meatloaf and mashies,'" Kris told the Huffington Post in February 2012. "It was fabulous." One month after she was officially divorced from O.J. Simpson defense attorney Robert Kardashian, she and Bruce took the plunge in a friend's backyard on April 21, 1991. They'd been dating for five months.

The ceremony was "intimate" and "small," she said. "I had such a big wedding the first time and we just really wanted close family and friends [the second time]." (Bruce had walked down the aisle twice before.)

The four Jenner kids and the four Kardashians became one big, happy family, at least to the outside world. Kris shared with HuffPo that her ex, Robert Kardashian, and Bruce were even golf buddies by the time of Robert's death from esophageal cancer in 1993.

As for Bruce, he explained just how his new love changed his life in a 1996 story for People.

"I was drifting," he told the magazine. "I had worked really hard and didn't have much to show for it. But everything turned around the day I met Kris."

By 1994, they had teamed up to make a popular infomercial for a line of stair climbers called "Super Fit With Bruce Jenner." It was then that Kris decided she enjoyed being on TV.

Now: On Tuesday, the longtime couple, whose union has created two additional kids and a reality TV empire, revealed that they've split after 22 years of marriage. (They acknowledged that they've lived apart for a year, so perhaps they should only get credit for 21 years of marriage?) She now resides in their Calabasas, California, home, while he lives in Malibu.

The joint statement that they released read: "We are living separately and we are much happier this way. But we will always have much love and respect for each other. Even though we are separated, we will always remain best friends and, as always, our family will remain our number one priority."

Both have said there are no plans for a Jenner divorce.

Most importantly for "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" fans, Bruce will still be part of the show. He and teen daughters Kendall and Kylie filmed scenes for the reality show just after the announcement of the split.
