Ryan Gosling Taking Break From Acting: 5 Things He Should Do With His Time

How is too much Ryan Gosling ever a bad thing?

The heartthrob has revealed in a new interview that he's taking a break from acting after the release of his upcoming film, "The Place Beyond the Pines," because he feels he's oversaturated the market.

"I've been doing it too much," Gosling, 32, tells AP Entertainment. "I've lost perspective on what I'm doing. I think it's good for me to take a break and reassess why I'm doing it and how I'm doing it. And I think this is probably a good way to learn about that. I need a break from myself as much as I imagine the audience does." [Editor's note: No, we do not need a break from you.]

So what should Gosling do with his time away?

We could think of plenty, but here are five that are fit to print:

Make More Music
We all know that as a child Gosling wowed the world with his singing and dancing skills, even long before he debuted on Disney's "Mickey Mouse Club" in 1993. Case in point: this video. But as an adult, he's also a proven talent. In 2009, Gosling and his friend, drummer Zach Shields, released an album about monsters and ghosts under the name Dead Man's Bones with Los Angeles' Silverlake Conservatory Children's Choir on backing vocals. Although the duo toured briefly in the U.S., Gosling's film career took over and the project became, well, a ghost.

Perform More Heroic Acts
Gosling really earned his heartthrob status thanks to the many stories about his heroics that went viral. In April 2011, he made hearts flutter when he was caught on video breaking up a street fight in New York City. The actor was on his way home from the gym when he came across two men arguing in the middle of an intersection over a painting. He eventually got them to work things out safely on the sidewalk. The following year, Twitter went crazy after a British journalist living in NYC tweeted that Gosling had just pulled her from the path of a taxi. "I literally, LITERALLY just got saved from a car by Ryan Gosling. Literally. That actually just happened," wrote Laurie Penny. "I was crossing 6th avenue in a new pink wig. Not looking the right way because I am from London. Ryan Gosling grabbed me away from a taxi." But the woman says she didn't realize it was the "Ides of March" actor until it was "confirmed by girl near me, who said 'you lucky b***h.'" Certainly more people could benefit from Gosling’s bravery and cat-like reflexes!

Join Justin Timberlake on Tour
What's better than Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z on tour together? Add Ryan Gosling into the mix! After all, the two used to make female fans scream on "The Mickey Mouse Club." That was 20 years ago, so we're long overdue for a reunion. Gosling could play a myriad of roles on the "Legends of the Summer" tour: sing, dance, act as security, sell T-shirts. Anything! We're not picky.

Spend Time With His Mom in Canada

Another thing to love about Ryan Gosling? He’s a mama's boy! His mother Donna, who raised Gosling and his older sister Mandi by herself in Ontario after their father left the picture, is often spotted by her famous son's side at his film premieres, most recently in January for "Gangster Squad." She was even his date for the 2007 Oscars when he was up for Best Actor for "Half Nelson." In an interview with ABC's "Nightline" in 2011, Gosling explained that his mother "just kept doing the right thing by me, every single time. She deserves to go to a fancy party and a have bunch of fancy people tell her she did a good job." Can you imagine how thrilled she would be to have her pride and joy spend some lengthy, quality time in our neighbor to the north?

Contribute to His Fan Sites
Almost as famous as Gosling are the sites dedicated to him, like F**k Yeah! Ryan Gosling and Feminist Ryan Gosling, which are both on Tumblr. F**k Yeah! is best known for creating the "Hey Girl" meme, in which a photo of the actor is paired with a funny "quote" from him about how much he loves you. Along with a pic of Gosling riding a rollercoaster by himself, the meme reads: "Hey girl, Your love is like a rollercoaster, baby. I wanna ride all night long." Feminist Ryan Gosling takes a similar approach. It also includes "Hey Girl," but adds a saying that shows his softer side. Example: a photo of Gosling wielding a hammer with the quote, "If I had a hammer, I'd smash the patriarchy." But both these sites have been a little neglected lately. Perhaps Gosling could update them with his own "Hey Girl" ideas ...
