UPDATE: Roger Friedman's Showbiz411 points out that they were first to break the news (on August 6) that Affleck visited Lohan in rehab. The site reports that the visit's purpose was to discuss a potential role in Affleck's new film, "Live by Night," and makes no mention of them discussing the topic of Lohan's sobriety.
Chaka Khan wasn't the only celebrity to spend time with Lindsay Lohan while she was in rehab.
According to two reports, Oscar-winning actor Ben Affleck visited the troubled screen queen during her stay at the Cliffside Malibu recovery center to share some of his advice on sobriety.
TMZ says that the "Argo" director, who turns 41 this week, met up with "The Canyons" actress, 27, somewhere outside of Cliffside during her stay. According to the site, they talked about how she could get her career back on track and "how supportive the entertainment community is for people who make a real effort to get better and stay clean."
A source tells "Access Hollywood" that Affleck and Lohan "spoke about her continued sobriety and how to reboot her career." Both TMZ and "Access Hollywood" report that they did not talk about her appearing in his next film "Live by Night."
Affleck would know a thing or two about the topic of recovery. In 2001, after realizing he had a drinking problem, he entered himself into rehab at Promises in Malibu at the age of 29. "Ben is a self-aware and smart man who has decided that a fuller life awaits him without alcohol," his publicist said at the time. "He has chosen to seek out professional assistance and is committed to traveling a healthier road with the support of his family, friends, and fans."
In fact, according to People, it was none other than Charlie Sheen who helped Affleck arrange a room at Promises.
Indeed it was a decision that seems to have paid off. Since then, Affleck's life has been a series of mostly high-profile successes. Despite spending a very public couple of years in the tabloids between '02-'03 while he was dating Jennifer Lopez, Affleck went on to begin a happy married life with Jennifer Garner in 2005. The two now have three children together and he's received top-notch reviews for his first three big screen directorial efforts: "Gone Baby Gone," "The Town," and the aforementioned Oscar-winning "Argo.
Omg! has reached out for comment to reps for both Lohan and Affleck, but has not heard back from them at this time.
