The new home Reese bought for $3 million. (Zillow)
The 37-year-old dropped $3 million on a three-bedroom home in the posh L.A. community of Brentwood, according to real estate website Zillow.
And Witherspoon is already quite familiar with the neighborhood. In fact, this is the third home she's purchased in the gated enclave of Brentwood Circle.
According to property records, Witherspoon bought her first piece of property a decade ago when she paid $4.725 million for a 7,000-square-foot home. Six years later she bought the 3,000-square-foot house next door for just over $3 million and, according to blog Real Estalker, tore down the structure and used the property as an extension of her backyard.

As for what she'll do with the new house she picked up -- the deal closed in late December -- that remains to be seen. (Neither the buyer's agent nor seller's agent returned omg!'s calls for comments.) But let's hope she at least finds some use for the place and it doesn't meet the fate of the last property she bought. While the house may be small by celebrity standards (and is described in the listing as an "enchanted cottage"), it sure looks worth keeping to us.
As per the listing, the one-story ranch features an open living room and dining room, hand-painted oak floors, a glass-enclosed breakfast room, and a stone-and-glass guest house that also serves an artist's studio. Outside, there's a pool, multiple brick terraces, and some "secluded hillside gardens."
While Reese has had good luck on the buy side -- and managed to get this latest property for $450,000 less than what it was listed for — she's not doing quite as well when it comes to selling.
The "Mud" actress listed her seven-acre, nine-bedroom ranch in Ojai, Calfornia, (a small town about 80 miles from Los Angeles) for $10 million last September. To entice buyers, she then slashed the asking price by more than $1 million, to $8.9 million, a couple of months later. Most recently, Witherspoon reduced it by another $1.65 million in March, to $7.25 million.
Though it still hasn't sold, our guess is Witherspoon isn't worrying too much about it. She probably has other things on her mind these days.
