After news broke that the 29-year-old actress is expecting her first child with her funnyman fiancé Jason Sudeikis, she took to Twitter to thank well-wishers.
"WOW. You guys are awesome," the mom-to-be posted on the social media site late Sunday night. "So kind. Thank you thank you thank you!"
And, revealing seems to be a first trimester pregnancy craving, the auburn-haired star added, "PS. Babies eat mostly salsa right?"
The replies from some of her 1.1 million followers to her craving were amusing. "Sounds like a question for @HOUSEonFOX," wrote one fan, referring to the medical drama that helped put Wilde on the map. Others made their own food suggestions, including "salsa and fried pickles," "milkshakes," "steak," and "babies like guac better for sure."
Wilde's baby news on Sunday evening came as a bit of a surprise because we were really expecting a "just married" announcement. Engaged to Sudeikis, 38, since January, Wilde said their wedding plans were well underway when she made an appearance on "Late Show With David Letterman" in August. She talked about how they had asked magician David Blaine to attend and do tricks for guests.
However, even before that — while discussing her future and family plans with the comedian — she admitted that she isn't big on mapping out every single aspect of life.
"We've discussed all our ideals and hopes. I can't wait for children," she told Marie Claire in March. "I'm open-minded about how many, but three, which I love, is like a little party. I am not trying to have kids now — there's no strict plan for anything in my life. What happens, happens."
"He's so good with kids," she added. "I've never before experienced looking at someone and thinking, 'That's who I want to raise a child with.'"
