Miranda Lambert: I’m Not in ‘Competition’ With Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood

Grammy Award winner Miranda Lambert is one of the most popular artists in the country music business, but she hasn’t let success go to her head. The Platinum-selling singer says she has nothing but respect for country music’s other young leading ladies, Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood.

“I would like to work with [Taylor] and with Carrie Underwood too,” Lambert told omg! at yesterday’s kickoff event for The Pedigree Feeding Project. “There is room for [all of] us three [in country music]. We are all three different [types] of country — well Taylor’s kind of all over everywhere — but I think it would be cool for the three of us to collaborate.”

“I love girl power,” the “Over You” singer smiled. “I say the more the merrier! It’s not competition. It makes us all look better to help each other.”

ABC’s hit (and massively addictive) show “Nashville” perpetuates the country girl-on-girl catfight cliché, but Lambert says she can’t wait to start watching the show.

“I love Hayden [Panettiere] and we’re friends—I can’t wait to watch it. I have it all TiVo’d and I am going to sit down one day and go through them all.”

But it doesn’t sound like Blake Shelton’s wife will get to do that anytime soon, considering she just hit the road to head out on tour with Dierks Bentley.

“It’s a big party and that’s what me and Dierks both want,” Lambert says about the tour. “We hope when people come to our show for that three hours they aren’t thinking about any problems, they are just there to blow off some steam.”

Yesterday, Miranda Lambert kicked off the national search for the next communities to benefit from The Pedigree Feeding Project, an initiative designed to help animal shelters nationwide. She and husband Blake Shelton already have “five and a half” rescue dogs already (she shares one pup with her grandmother).

Since Lambert is such a strong advocate of animal adoption, would she ever consider adopting children?

“It seems like if it’s in your blood it may be on that next level too. Who knows?” she told omg!. “I would be open to anything. Right now I have four legged children and I am not home nearly enough! Maybe in the future, but not right now.”

Fans can join Pedigree and Lambert in their efforts to help more homeless dogs by visiting Pedigree’s Facebook page in order to nominate a city for aid.
