Miranda Cosgrove Buys $2.6M Home, Billy Bob Thornton Sells Mansion He Shared With Angelina Jolie

It’s a new year, and the Hollywood set isn’t wasting anytime honoring the “out with the old, in with the new” tradition … when it comes to real estate that is. Celebs from Kelsey Grammer to Miranda Cosgrove have been busy buying and selling multi-million dollar homes. Check out a few of this week’s highlights below.

Seller: Billy Bob Thornton
House: 11,000-square-foot hacienda in Beverly Hills
Sale Price: $8 million

It seems like a lifetime ago that Angelina Jolie – now a mom of six and Brad Pitt’s fiancée – was wearing Billy Bob Thornton’s vial of blood around her neck. But Thornton, whom Jolie was married to from 2000 to 2003, has had a reminder of his ex-wife surrounding him all these years in the form of the Beverly Hills mansion the couple shared during their marriage.

The 57-year-old actor, who purchased the pad for $3.75 million just a month before he eloped with Jolie in May 2000, unloaded it on December 31 for a cool $8 million. According to real estate website Redfin , the 11,000-square-foot 1920s Spanish hacienda features a 2-story living room, recording studio, private gym, and giant master suite. The grounds include a pool, fountains, and a paddle tennis court. And if anyone can get their hands on an old pic of Angelina and Billy Bob playing a round of paddle tennis, we’re sure you could make a pretty penny.

Buyer: Miranda Cosgrove
House: 3,000-square-foot house in the Hollywood Hills
Purchase Price: $2.65 million

Remember your cramped freshman dorm room with its tiny twin bed, drab décor, and lack of appliances? Well, lucky for 19-year-old Miranda Cosgrove, she’ll never have to experience those kind of living conditions!

The former Nickelodeon star, who began studying at University of Southern California in September, recently purchased a 3,000-square foot estate that sits on more than a quarter of an acre, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The gated home includes three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a formal living room and dining room, stainless steel appliances, and a pool adjacent to a covered pavilion and outdoor flatscreen TV. Perfect for watching reruns of “iCarly” poolside!

Seller: Kelsey Grammer
House: 5,863-square-foot Spanish Colonial in Beverly Hills
List Price: $7.25 million

Kelsey Grammer isn’t letting moss grow under his feet. The 57-year-old TV star just put his 5,863-foot Beverly Hills home on the market for $7.25 million, a mere eight months after he bought it for $6.5 million and moved in with new wife, Kayte, and their baby daughter, Faith.

According to Trulia Luxe Living, Grammer wanted the home to be a home base for his wife and child when they relocated from New York City, but once Grammer’s show “Boss” got the ax, the family moved into another Beverly Hills home he owns (get this) with ex-wife Camille Grammer to save money. That one’s on the market for $16 million. Camille, of course, is none too happy about the move and, back in November, asked a judge to bar her ex from the home, according to TMZ. Kelsey, meanwhile, claimed it didn’t make sense for him to carry two mortgages in the same area due to the fact he was suddenly out of a job. The judge sided with Kelsey.

Seller: Kara Dioguardi
House: 7,600-square-foot Studio City French Chateau
Sale Price: $6.3 million

If you’ve been wondering what former “American Idol” judge Kara Dioguardi has been up to since she left the show in 2010, well, she’s probably been hanging out at home enjoying her amazing mansion … up until just recently that is. The 42-year-old sold her 5-bedroom, 6.5-bath French Chateau, located in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley for $6.3 million. According to Redfin, Dioguardi bought the manse in 2007 for $3.5 million, and tried selling it last year for $10 million. After finally dropping the asking price to just under $7 million in September, the home, situated on three acres, quickly found a buyer.

The new owner has a luxurious lifestyle ahead, which will include swims in the 50-foot long infinity pool evenings in front of the 23-foot tall stone fireplace, and gourmet dinners cooked up in the chef’s kitchen covered in Calcutta Gold marble. No word on where Kara will now reside. Perhaps Simon Cowell has an extra bedroom?
